Re: Euro Division Homepage XXXIX
Then why is it people on here Moan that others are living in the past when it comes to ratings. Olly just the other day annoyed that Marky was rating Pirlo from June time rather then current form.
So which is it do we rate a player what he has currently done or rate him when he once was decent.

Re: Euro Division Homepage XXXIX
I said the other day that I rate on current and past form, with the further back I go, the less influence it has. But I don't really go past a couple of seasons unless a player has been out injured, and then I base it on last time I saw them and then bring it down based on my own common sense assessment of the situation.

Both, but more so on what he's currently done.
But that's the problem - Wilshere was injured, so there is no sample other than how he performed when he was actually playing. So you have to use that for now, until we see more of him this year. If he stinks up the joint, fair enough, throw him under the bus for all I care - he's no Mark Noble anyway.
My only problem is blindness to the fact he was good before he was injured, as if it never happened.

In theory...but it seems like my method is less common round here, so perhaps I'm the one looking at it wrong.

I have to admit I'm jealous of Arsenal, Wilshere is a class player and will become one of the best. Think Iniesta but with bite.

I'm good CF, my dream is to see you bull cherries and Olly back in the league at the same time it'd make my life complete.
I would love to see Wilshere at United the only player who can replace him and unlike Scholes not a liability in getting sent off when we're under pressure or on the back foot. How many players can say they've performed better then Xavi and Iniesta in the same match Scholes yet to do that. Wilshere done it one season.

Re: Euro Division Homepage XXXIX
Why the hell are we having this debate? Wilshere isn't anywhere near Cleverley's level
Cleverley is a key part of the current England side and has the ability and the mental attitude. He will be a key part of the Man Utd midfield for years to come. Wilshere was a decent midfielder who had a good run of form. But, right now, he's nothing. He needs to prove himself once more in order to get any sort of rating. If he does that, then around New Year I may rate him higher. But at the moment, I would have Cleverley in my team over Wilshere.

Cleverley is the most overrated player in the PL. The only thing I remember him doing was mishitting a cross.

You sound like your watching England for the 1st time we're always rubbish in friendlies it's all Cleverley's fault we'd be winning if Wilshere was playing

Funny that Osman looked very good tonight. Maybe picking in form players is the way to go, no matter who they play for in the Prem...

Re: Euro Division Homepage XXXIX
Not suggesting Holt, he burnt that bridge, but there are other in form English players in the Prem who don't get picked (Lambert, Noble, Nolan being examples) and yet players like Shelvey and Cleverley do. Maybe if we picked players who were playing week in week out and playing well, maybe, just maybe we would do better?

Lambert and Nolan would be terrible and would set England back having to play the long ball system.

Re: Euro Division Homepage XXXIX
Have you not noticed that Lambert is a very clever player, with very good vision and touch? Southampton don't exactly play long ball do they now?
And it's not as if Nolan has been effective in the Prem for 3 teams?

Re: Euro Division Homepage XXXIX
We're hardly moving forward though by bringing the likes of Nolan into the fold. Those type of players are why we're 20 years behind the continent.
When I go to watch my son train it winds me up something chronic when 20 minutes into training and half the children have yet to even touch a football and all they've done are running exercises etc. immediately as they get there they should have a ball each and it should be with them for the entire session.
