Bit of a running thread we could hopefully keep going....
Meet Joe Black - Never seen it before, thought it was great but maybe a bit too long at 3 hours. One of Brad Pitt's best performances.
Source Code - Bit of a head f**k, won't lie to you i didn't fully understand the ending.

Watched Hatchet the other night. Far from a classic horror movie, but I actually enjoyed it. (OH wasn't impressed with it at all.) Will have to look out for Hatchet 2 now.

I really liked Kung Fu Panda 2, much better than the first I thought.

I've heard bad things about the remake but I remember loving the original.
Re: Last Film Watched Thread
I think the young guy in the lead role does a brilliant job, even David Tennant is ok (not as good as Roddy McDowall was obviously), though nobody can really drink so much Midori without for weeks

I think Gene Hackman plays a coach in The Replacements which is also a bit of an uplifting film with Keanu Reeves in it based on American Football. I know I enjoyed it.

I watched There's No Business Like Show Business as it was on TV the other night. A great colourful 1950s musical featuring songs by Irvine Berlin sung by Johnny Ray, Ethel Merman and Marilyn Monroe, dance routines with Donald O'Connor and Mitzi Gaynor....they really don't make them like that anymore.

Bit predictable and could've been more out of the box, but didn't get bored once.

Lion King in 3D at the cinema today. As good as it ever was. Amazing film 3D wasn't too gimmicky but gave it some depth.

I saw Drive this evening and it was pretty mind-blowing. It was extremely creepy, violent and brilliantly acted. Honestly one of the best films of this year so far. I'd recommend it but not if you're squeamish.

The Town - Ben Afflick stars and it was better than I expected if a little predictable
Skyline - Weird "Aliens Attack" sci-fi movie gets a little repetitive but the ending is decent.

I watched The American....
What a fantastic film. It really was. The photography and soundtrack was perfect. The photography just amazing. The whole scenery. Just exquisit. The soundtrack was delicately menacing. It screamed concern at every corner in every scene.
The movie is about an assassin who is being pursued by his enemies across Europe. He goes into hiding in Italy and walls start to close in.
Clooney is immense as the film's protagonist. The ability to remain in control of emotional unresponsiveness is stunning. Gives nothing away and when you look into the windows of his eyes you see nothing. Not even a reflection.
My one criticism is that the dialogue was not in Italian. That would've made it perfect.
9.5/10

Watched a good few movies over the weekend.
The Guard – “comedy” Brendan Glesson, was hoping for more, not good at all (4/10)
Zeitgeist – documentary about religion and corporate influence, excellent. I highly recommend it (9/10)
The King of Kong – documentary about the world record score for Donkey Kong, offbeat, funny and well worth a watch (8/10)
Waiting for superman – documentary about the education system in America, surprisingly good! (8/10)
Indiana Jones (first 3 movies) – you don’t need my review. Epic movies (10/10)

Let the right one in- A Swedish film made in 2008 that can't really be defined to one genre. It is primarily a horror but there is also some romance and mystery theme to it. A stunning movie 9/10.

The Twilight Samurai 10/10
Much like Park Chan-wook's famed trilogy of the same time, it's the second film of his three that is Yoji Yamada's crowning achievement. A truly wonderful piece of modern film making.

9/10 very good. Farrell, Sutherland and the lead cop (can't remember his name) are excellent, and the pizza guy was good too.

Ah good man, my missus has me watching those movies. Sprited away is brilliant. Ponyo is excellent too but my favourite of them is My Neighbour Totoro. It's aimed at a younger audience than Spirited Away, but it's excellent all the same.

Re: Last Film Watched Thread
I introduced my missus to a favourite film of mine which was Awakenings. With Robin Williams and Robert De Niro. It is based on true events and is about patients in a catatonic state. Robin Williams is the doctor who is trying to work out a treatment to bring the patients back into a more responsive condition. He finds a treatment which starts to 'awaken' patients and enable them to start the path into finding their lives again. Robert De Niro is a patient who awakens and strives to progress quicker into a normal life.
Both performances from Williams and De Niro are sublime. The bond and friendship that develops throughout the film is one which warms the heart. I would be lying if I said I didn't find some scenes very emotional. I would strongly recommend this film to anyone. The beauty of the friendship is up there with that in The Shawshank Redemption. It may not have the same timeline, but it does leave you in awe of it.

Seems like there is a can of worms started over Adam Sandler, though i agree his early stuff (Happy Gilmore, Waterboy etc) are brilliant, and a tough act to follow, for me...Reign Over Me was easily his best film. Showed that he can act, and is not just a goofball.

Watched Horrible Bosses & Bad Teacher over the weekend.
Horrible Bosses - made me laugh from time to time, pretty daft humour (mrs didn't rate it which says it all really) and storyline okay, 7 out of 10.
Bad Teacher - odd funny bit but very predictable and was waiting for it to finish so I could go to bed which isn't a good sign. 4/10.
