Bit of a running thread we could hopefully keep going....
Meet Joe Black - Never seen it before, thought it was great but maybe a bit too long at 3 hours. One of Brad Pitt's best performances.
Source Code - Bit of a head f**k, won't lie to you i didn't fully understand the ending.

Rango was terrible.
Of all these modern animation films, Despicable Me is by far my favourite. So funny.
I watched Dead Man's Shoes for the first time recently. What a film. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.

Quality movie, really enjoyed it and can't wait to finish the book so I can read the other two now

I watched an old film last night called I Live My Life.
It starred Joan Crawford who played this flighty society gal who marries a boring archaeologist. Gave him a hell of a time. Completely silly story but life seemed so uncomplicated back in those days. What that poor guy had to go through... but it a nice, predictable and fully resolved happy ending of course!

I watched "Unknown" last night on the basis of this review:
If you liked Taken you'll love Unknown.
Perhaps the review should have read:
If you loved Taken you'll think Unknown is all right.
The basis of the film was decent enough and I'd probably enjoy it more on a second viewing with expectations lowered.

Watched Moneyball the other night. Good film.
It's based on the book "Moneyball: The Art of Winning an Unfair Game" and is about the Oakland A's 2002 season and the A's GM Billy Beane, Brad Pitt, who has the job of making the A's have as successful a season as the Yankees, Red Sox, etc. with only a shoe string budget compared to the rest of the league and also having lost their three best players as free agents.
It also stars Jonah Hill in his first serious role, as a young scout who studied economics at Yale and has a formula for finding the best cheap players, which I think he pulled off quite well.

I love that film though I haven't seen it in a while.Il Gialloblu wrote:I watched Dead Man's Shoes for the first time recently. What a film. Brilliant. Absolutely brilliant.
I've watched all 3 mighty ducks films as they've been on one of the Sky Movies channels. Although they do get a little bit worse each time I still really enjoyed them.
Watched Cool Runnings today as well, still a pretty enjoyable story. I suppose I shouldn't be surprised that I still liked all of these films as it's what Disney do best a good old feel good story.

Really ? I watched it and thought it was exactly like the TV series, patchy but funny in places. On the whole It hought they just about pulled it off but briliant is stretching it a bit. One of the girls I work with lives with the tall dopey one. Nice guy apparently.
Just watched the latest Planet of the films, enjoyed that a lot I gave to say. So much better than the previous Tim Burton dross.

Has anybody seen Goon with Sean William Scott?
Was very surprised, its actually good, was expecting some stupid comedy but there's a bit of depth to his character and some good laughs in there as well

Role Models.
I was in the mood for a "switch your brain off and laugh" style movie. Well Role Models definitely falls in to that category.

I do reckon it would be highly amusing to have 1 game in L.A.I.R.E.
That is pretty much all I could manage...my minimal self respect would be gone by then and I would have to stop...but it would still be immense fun!

I have a mate that use to travel over to England to do it and he said it was great fun, a weekend of drinking and chatting up girls in costumes with a few attacks here and there, but like you Id probably try it once have a laugh then be too ashamed to do it again after my family and friends found out

I watched Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows last night. A great big pile of doggy doo-doo. An excuse to link some rubbish dialogue with fight scenes and explosions with dubious slow-mo.
Absolute garbage.

I watched the Other Guys again lastnight, the film is hillarious and fast becoming one of my favourites, its one of those films that everytime you watch it you hear something new that you missed the first time and the chemistry between Ferrell and Wahlberg is brilliant

Haywire.
Very typically slick Soderbergh style applied to a different genre. MMA practitioner Gina Carano is very impressive in her acting debut. The supporting cast list is even more so. Some people might also be interested to know that the city of Dublin probably qualifies as a significant supporting cast member, involving Ms Carano acquainting members of the Garda with her particular hand-to-hand brand of medieval. Ouch.
Good film. Perhaps not top notch, but enjoyable enough.

I watched Haywire last night and pretty much agree with most of the above, although Ms Carano doesn't act that much, just looks nice and beats people up. A lot.
The fight scenes were very well coreographed, and they don't skimp when it comes to giving Ms Carano the occasional slap for her troubles, which can look a bit sqeamish (I don't like seeing a woman hit in any circumstances). That said, she more than makes up for it!

I saw this film called "Cedar Boys" about Lebanese gangs out here. Some cringe-worthy dialogue yet it was sort of funny in parts - until the violent ending - which was no surprise given the dangerous lives they lead.

Realised I missed Ladyhawke on Sunday afternoon, Another favourite, that I also have on dvd, but I'd have watched it if I was home. Might just dig out the dvd for tomorrow night's viewing

Watched Bridesmaids last night, I actually found it to be really funny it may have helped that my expectations were for it to be rubbish but I enjoyed the film a lot.
Also recently watched One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest, it was an enjoyable film if a little odd in places but I guess you have to expect that when a film is set in a mental institution. A good mix overall between hapiness and sadness makes it quite a touching film.

Ironclad, It's about the siege of Rochester castle by King John in 1215, the battle scenes are quite violent, I think I saw one man using an arm he had just cut off as a weapon, good cast James Malfoy, Derek Jacoby, Brian Cox, Paul Giamatti, Charles Dance and Jason Flemyng.
The Other Guys is very good the closing credits are worth paying attention to
