First topic message reminder :

Bit of a running thread we could hopefully keep going....

Meet Joe Black - Never seen it before, thought it was great but maybe a bit too long at 3 hours. One of Brad Pitt's best performances.

Source Code - Bit of a head f**k, won't lie to you i didn't fully understand the ending.

I like Tarrantino's films but I wouldn't watch them over and over again, I think he is very over-hyped by alot of people

I watched Changing Lanes the other night. Quite a good drama-thriller with Ben Affleck and Samuel L. Jackson.

The only thing which seemed implausible was when Banek (Affleck) writes his contact details on the power-of appointment file after he has a minor car accident with Gipson (Jackson)... and then gives it to him before he rushes off to the courtroom. He says he 'dropped it at the scene of the accident' in the court but it's a bit far-fetched, imo.

Otherwise, a good film with some interesting themes.

I watched Just Friends last night, I had forgotten how great this comedy is, it was one of the first films I saw Ryan Reynolds in and I thought he was great, the chemistry between his character and his brother (Chris Marquette) is brilliant but Anna Faris as the down right nutcase "It" girl Samantha James steals the film for me

Just saw Salmon Fishing in the Yemen.
Very good, Kirsten Scott Thomas plays a wonderful female version of Alistair Cambell.

A good old fashioned beginning, middle and end sort of film.

Funny scene, but god wouldn't you have loved to have been him in that position. I'd be constantly asking for a re-take as I would make up any mistake that I could Very Happy

Last film I watched was Thor. Good film, very feel good due to the good triumphing over evil. Natalie Portman is absolutely gorgeous as well. Particularly liked the culture change in language between Thor and the modern world, especially when he carried her dad in drunk, and when asked what happened he replied 'He drank, he fought, he did his ancestors proud'

last film I saw in the cinema was Pirates in an adventure with scientists but was let down by it, gave it 6/10 - not as funny or slapstick as I'd hoped.

last film I watched though for the first time was One Day on dvd, abit sentimental I know being a love story but thoroughly enjoyed it, I thought it was a clever love story with a lot of heart to it.

I watched an Iranian film yesterday called Offside. It was good and quite amusing in places. It follows a group of Iranian female teens who try to sneak into a football stadium to watch Iran qualify for the World Cup. They're banned because of their gender as it's believed there's a high risk of abuse for women at football grounds in Iran. I was reading a bit of background about the film. It was inspired by the director's daughter who attended a game despite the ban; and although the film was shot in Iran, they didn't allow it to be screened there.

That was a brilliant line. I thought Thor's script was actually really good. Another one I particularly liked was ' This mortal form grows weak; I need sustenance!'.

watched war horse last night, thought it was ok slighty above average.

thing that annoyed me all the way through was everybody speaking english. i could handle it when it was english to german. but in the german camp they were all speaking english, the french were speaking english. would it really been too much for subtitles. it got to a point where i couldnt figure out who was who as some of the accents were that poor!

If you've got nothing else to watch and an hour and half or so to spare then there are worse films , but the thing about Super 8 was it looked like it could be a good film but just didn't deliver at the parts when it should have .

I watched Chronicle last night.

For me I loved the film. Kids with superhuman abilities. What would they do and the difficulties with morals that they have. I thought it was an excellent film. I loved how the main 3 characters bonded and how the film captured the whole adventure. Realising the un-limited power they have and how personally they deal with responsibility of it was compelling viewing. It was a film that did deal so well with morals. What drives a person to be humble with their power and also how corrupted some might become too.

Watched Walking Tall and Young Guns last night, enjoyed both. Walking Tall because it's a switch your brain off action movie and I tend to enjoy everything that Dwayne Johnson does.

Young Guns was a fantastic cast and told the story of Billy the kid really well and the cast is fantastic. Wonder how smashed Charlie Sheen was when the filmed it Laugh

Last couple of movies I seen

Safe - wasn't expecting much seeing how it has Jason Staham in it, but quite surprised and entertained throughout. Nothing special but worth a watch if nothing else to do 3/5

How I spent my Summer Vacation - Mel Gibson is back, and not the rubbish Mel Gibson, the good one from Lethal Weapon. Relly liked this film, would reccomend 4/5

The Blindside- Love the film and not just because of the American Football presence in it, just a genuinely heart warming story.

Hanna- Wasn't really sure what to expect of the film before watching it, but it was very interesting, did well at keeping you guessing of what was going to happen.

Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of The Black Pearl- Shows to me that it's a really good film that I can still watch it and laugh at the jokes and get drawn into the story line.

Inception- Don't think the film lived up to what I remembered it being like though it was still enjoyable and ends on the cliffhanger that left most people unable to decide on what had happend.

One of them is the film in the quote quiz: https://www.606v2.com/t2383p800-movie-quote-quiz#1217781

I watched 2 films lastnight

Once - a good Irish film about a busker and an immigrant woman that befriend each other and shows their week together as they write and record an album. Worth watching

Punisher War Zone - After hunting down and killing hundreds of violent criminals, Frank Castle, aka The Punisher, faces his most deadly foe yet, Jigsaw. Terrible acting, over the top voilence and the 2 main bad guys were sh1t, I dont know how Marvel green lighted this one utter tripe

I watched The Road last night.

I admit I cried. What a film. Stunning. Based on a 2006 novel (Which I will have to read now) a father and son are faced with the reality of the human race after a caticlysmic event. Facing starvation as no animals or plantation survived the event. Cannabalism is rife in the new world and the father and son try to find there way in the world without resorting to the desparate tactics that others have employed. Mortensen is just stunning. Similar to A History of Violence, he just throws himself into the character so well. Kodi-Smit-Mcphee deserves a mention for portraying the son. As you go through the film you see flashbacks of the father and son's previous life just after the event. The ending is very sad.

The cinemography is just beautfiul. Bleak colours. You feel like the Earth has well and truly died. The characters look like you would expect. Tired and worn out from survival alone.

Just watched Carnal Knowledge, from back when Jack Nicholson had hair. Superb take on the Unending Dance from the male perspective even if it's only half a movie - the last half hour doesn't know what to do. Still, Candice Bergen is radiant and Ann-Margaret is sizzling just being there (and got a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination, no less.)

The Sitter 5.5/10

I was hoping for better with this really as I'm a fan of Jonah Hill. There are a few scene's which are funny but the film is a little all over the place really which you would find hard to be beliveable. The idea of the film was good I just felt a little let down by it, plus 2 of the 3 kid actors in it were real poor.

Super - starring Rainn Wilson

Its incredibly odd. It reminds me of a mix between Napoleon Dynamite and Kick Ass (which is strange as I hate ND!). The story is of Rainn Wilson (Dwight from the US office) who is married to Liv Tyler, a recovering drug addict. She runs off with the local drug dealer and Rainn decides to become a super hero to win her back.

Sounds like a fun premise but it is incredibly dark in tone.

Absolutely fantastic stuff.

You can get it on Sky+ anytime at the moment)

Just watched Super based on your recommendation. Really enjoyed it. Its very similar to God Bless America.

MIB 3

good entertainment, but it gets a bit soppy at the end, and I thought they could have made more out of the bad guy.

Finally watched American Pie the Reunion last night, bit disappointed by it to be honest, having been a fan of the original films it just didn't seemed to match up to them, its OK and thats about it
