Meet Joe Black - Never seen it before, thought it was great but maybe a bit too long at 3 hours. One of Brad Pitt's best performances.

It is really nice to see Johnny Depp going back to playing a mad drunk rather than starring as a cross dresser in a musical.
It is a good film, though I was disappointed he wasn't as mad as Raoul Duke in Fear and Loathing (as it was a Hunter S Thompson book too).

watched Final Destination 1 and 2 with my mate last night. thought both were brilliant, they both had good endings and the characters kept me interested. when Alex realises in no1 that they are dying in the order that they were meant to die in the plane crash was epic

21 Jump Street. Was at Lauren's house and was outvoted by her and her younger sister at Blockbuster. Was surprisingly good and Tatum Channing is a surprisingly good comic actor

Yeah I watched that too, I'd heard about it ages ago and thought it sounded like a funny idea, but never got round to watching it.
Glad I watched it, was quite funny and stupid (in a good way).

Just watched Brave and The Dark Knight Rises in the cinema followed by Domino (which is on now).
Thought Brave was good, though not as imaginative or funny as previous Pixar films (such as Toy Story, Incredibles, Finding Nemo or Monsters Inc).
Dark Knight was very good and Tom Hardy again showed what a great actor he is.
Domino is ok, suprisingly good performance by Keira (whose usually pants).

Yeah it was good, I ain't been to the cinema for ages (hence needing to see 2 films before they went out of the cinema), and with having a week off it allowed me to pretend I was a student again and watch films all day/night!
Also watched 12 monkeys earlier in the week, which is a weird and great film, and Brad Pitt is prehaps even better in this than True Romance.
If you like Pixar films then I'd recommend Brave, while maybe not as good as some of the best Pixar, it's still very good with good characters and is funny.

I think Tom Hardy is a rising star and was very, very good in Batman (especially with having to follow Heath Ledger) and has been good in all the films I've seen him in (I ain't seen the few chick flicks he's done) such as Layer Cake, Inception, Tinker Taylor (even though I didn't like the film I thought he and Oldman were very good), Rock n Rolla & even though I don't like it he was very good as the bad guy/borg thing in Star Trek Nemesis (is it?)

I haven't noticed him in any of those films, the ones I've seen. Probably because he's along side some big names. I must get around to seeing Warrior.
As for Batman, I can't see why people keep pointing to that. I'm pretty sure he had a dubbed voice, CGI body and wore a mask all the way through the film. Can't see how anyone can rate a performance on that.

Those strippers must have really muddled your mind, as it was Morg who mentioned Warrior
I ain't seen it or Bronson unfortunately - as the risk of incurring Morgs wrath I didn't think much of Chopper and the little reaction to any of the violence made it seem very cartoony.
Morg in Layer Cake he was next to Daniel Craig in one of Craigs 1st films & in Rock n Rolla it was Gerard Butler it's only recently he's been staring next to huge stars, (except Star Trek with Patrick Stewart obviously) with Di Caprio in Inception, Oldman in Tinker Taylor and the Welsh Boy Bale in Batman.

If the voice was dubbed in parts, then it was still only in his own voice dubbed back in rather than somebody else.
The body, I don't think, was CGI, I believe he had to put on a lot of weight to get the figure but it was natural.
I don't think the mask necessarily detracts from his acting performance, it only makes it more difficult for him.

Don't watch Bronson, worst load of crap I've seen. I watched Chopper by chance, but it was late and I fell asleep. I found out what the title was and purchased the DVD. Not sure why I liked it, I think it just appreciate psychopaths. If you delve into Mark 'chopper' Read a bit Smirnoff you may see how he got away with half of his crimes; you should also note that Bana's performance as Chopper is spot on. Voice, appearance, attitude, just everything. I know because I also purchased the documentary on Chopper which was made some time after the movie.

I have 5 of Choppers books, they are a great read and very funny, Bana was perfect in the role and in the 3rd book (i think) is when they ask Chopper about making the movie

Nah not sure, could have been the guy who voiced Darth Vader.... It has to be CGI. He's fairly short (shorter than Bale) and it would be impossible to grow that much before the film then go back to his size. To me he looked like a giant in the film, as he was in the comics. Him and Bale both look like they put in a lot of hard training to get in shape for movies though. They're both in cracking shape.

It's specifically Hardy's voice and body- he looks huge because of camera work, just like in LotR and Harry Potter and pretty much everywhere else. CGI human bodies (particularly ones showing flesh an muscle) in a live action are easy to spot as they look Poopie. Hardy gained 14kg of muscle from his last movie, which was the cage-fighter movie where he was stacked anyway! No wonder he looks huge! Hardy talks about how he came up with Bane's voice- it is him. It's DEFINITELY not James Earl Jones, on that I am willing to bet any sum of money

It is definitely Tom Hardy's voice, it's recognisably his and nothing like James Earl Jone's.
He doesn't look like a giant in the film, I think he looks like somebody who spent a lot of time building up for a role. Just like Bale does, he is constantly jumping between horribly skinny and beefed up because of his different movie roles. I imagine Nolan gave him time to build himself up for the role.

Re: Last Film Watched Thread
Hardy's body wasn't CGI in Batman. There are so many actors out there who put their bodies on the line for a particular role, and I think it would have reflected badly on Hardy had he not bulked up. He came out recently and said that after he finished filming Batman, he stopped working out and it turned into excess weight, which he struggled to lose.
Anyway, I saw Lawless Friday night. Not sure if anyone here's seen it yet, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Didn't realise it was based on a true story, which made me appreciate it more. Very violent, and I wasn't prepared for the gore! Excellent film anyway, highly recommened.

I didn't know there was a cartoon series, the film is just brilliant though - especially when he's explaining the plot to destroy 'the community' via products and mythology!
Great film.
Not a film but my friend just introduced me to 'Touch of Cloth' with John Hannah, which is a great spoof TV series on gritty British cop shows

The cartoon is on Adult Swim with Robot Chicken, it very funny and has characters (dead and alive) from the film, same actors do the voices as well, my favourite part was when his mate Bullhorn is fighting with Chicago winds henchman and he slaps him too hard and the bloke is gonna hit him so it cuts and returns at the same scene and the henchman is a different actor

Surprised, I thought Dredd looked awful. I did like Stallone's version though.
Last night I watched 'Warrior' and I enjoyed it very much. I was a doubter of Tom Hardy before, but now he's won over my affections .
Tonight I think I'll watch Munich. Something else I have not seen before.

Yup Munich is a good film, ain't seen Warrior yet but heard good things and it's on my to watch list.
Saw Men In Black 3 the night before last, I really liked it and thought they did the whole time travel thing really well and Josh Brolin was excellent as Kay, which suprised me as I don't really like Brolin.

I enjoyed MIB3 and Brolins character in that film too, not many people liked the 3rd instalment to that franchise though so I'm told.
