Bit of a running thread we could hopefully keep going....
Meet Joe Black - Never seen it before, thought it was great but maybe a bit too long at 3 hours. One of Brad Pitt's best performances.
Source Code - Bit of a head f**k, won't lie to you i didn't fully understand the ending.

Both Duel and Logans Run are amazing films.
I enjoyed Roadkill which was similar to Duel but havent scene another film of its quality in ages - actually scrap that, I thought the opening half of Jeepers Creepers was also very similar and very good (but then got incredibly stupid!)

Finally got round to seeing Skyfall over the weekend. Thought it was good, albeit not living up to the early review hype. For me it's Craig's second best Bond behind Casino Royale.
I also watched Shoot 'em up, which was tongue in cheek fun. You have to leave your brain at the door to properly enjoy it though.

Seen the crying game over the weekend, thought it was weird and confusing and not that good.

Watched Ted - seemed exactly what I thought it would be - though slightly funnier, basically Peter Griffin as a bear (with other allsorted Family Guy/American Dad characters/references littered around the film) in a typical buddy guy movie with a standard plot. It is funny and not as gross as I expected (and the Flash Gordon bits were funny) but not very imaginative scripting.

I much preferred RocknRolla and Snatch/Lock Stock to be honest and felt Revolver showed the dreaded Madonna effect on Richie's career!

Watched Monsters earlier, low budget British-made film about aliens in Mexico.
Whilst I thought it was very nicely shot on the cheap eqiupment, using local people as extras with much of the dialogue improvised gave it a more natural feel and the story itself was a good concept - it just wasn't as good as it could/should have been for me.
Shame really.

Finally watched Bridesmaids after all the hype, a few funny moments but generally made up of cliches - massive disappointment all in all, a lot like Hangover in that respect.

I've watched so many films recently and just been disappointed by mostly all of them. What's happened to good films? Having to always re-watch 80's and early 90's classics. Skyfall was a big disappointment as was Taken 2.

Kinda like Mike Myers i suppose. I used to love Sandler until few years ago, guess its comedy snobbery.

End of watch. good cop film.; Really upto date. Really good watch.8.5/10
the sweeny-I liked it- but! oddly enough i would have wished they had just brought out a rebooted tv series on this.. But ya gotta love ray winstone. And it was nice to see Damien Lewis doing something British for a change.7/10
The odd life of timothy green- cute, abit sickly but overall I recomend. 7/10

Watched Skyfall last night - Really enjoyed it, and all the tongue in cheek references to the first Bonds, and also some of the others.
I always thought Daniel Craig would make a good Bond, but thought the previous 2 films have been terrible - while this one hit the nail on the head, and I liked the new Q though he is very different.
Hard to say whether it lived up to the hype, as there was a lot of hype and it usually makes me look at the negatives in a film instead but all I can say is I really enjoyed it and it was a true Bond film

yeah i am 50/50 as to how great Skyfall was. I understand my british bias..
basically i loved it, and will probally watch a few more times(not a big bond fan tbh- but i have a patriotic attachement). However i would understand why many would be abit underwhelmed considering the hype

The Usual Suspects: very good film, enjoyable even if you already know the ending.
Dredd (3D): pretty awful, no plot to speak of (or one that can be written in one line), poor acting, not great shooting. Unnecessary violence really, but done in a far too serious manner.

I know right, this is a great thing about the film. Although i like many other major twist films i cant watch many of them over again- like shutter island for example- loved it- but dont feel the need to rewatch. however usual suspects allways attracts me back

It's the performances, especially by Kevin Spacey & Chazz Palminteri, that make Usual Suspects so gripping. Twist was fairly well done but generally found the film to be quite poorly directed.

Usual Suspects is def in my Top 10 films Spacey's performance and the filming is awesome.
Jimanji is very good as well.
I watched a bit of 12 monkeys again the other night - I always forget how amazing Brad Pitt is in that film (I always just think of how weird Terry Gilliam is and how amazing Bruce is in that film)

The Amazing Spiderman (watched last night). It was awful. The guy who played Peter Parker was rubbish. Brought my mood back up by re-watching MIB 3, a film I still like.

Re: Last Film Watched Thread
I watched the Amazing Spider-Man last night, didn't think it was as bad as Morgannwg thought and Andrew Garfield isn't a bad Peter Parker, though I'm getting fed up of reboots where you have to watch the same basic set up again that you know in your sleep.
The CGI on The Lizard though I wasn't impressed with facially, the action sequences were done well though.

Watched a few movies this weekend starting with TED, superb film for anybody who enjoys the other Seth Mcfarlane shows. Gave me a fair few belly laughs, especially when he laughs at the fat kid running and when he sees the dad dancing as well.
The amazing spiderman was decent, the CGI was very well done and I thought Rhys Ifans played the bad guy superbly. The last one was Contagion which although a good film is slightly depressing.

Like a few others I recently watched The Amazing Spiderman, was pretty enjoyable. I liked the back story to Peter and connection to Rhys Ifans' character, CGI all looked pretty good. Was good enough to make me watch it again in the future and to watch the sequel when that comes out in the future.

Recently watched One Day.The most memorable thing about it is Anne Hathaway's attempt at a British accent. Her character's probably the only one who developed a Yorkshire accent after moving to London.
Also watched Silver Linings Playthings which I really enjoyed. Strong performances from Bradley Cooper and Jennifer Lawrence, and Bob De Niro was really good in it as well.
