2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
First topic message reminder :
The discussion(s) continue here guys.
Unbelievable win for the Canaries tonight which see's Man City top for the first time this season, will they hold on.
QPR - still without a win - look doomed and Aston Villa drop into the bottom 3.

Positives:
Carrick was immense
Vidic played a full game without breaking down
Giggs played well
Negatives:
Performance was dreadful
Young was abysmal
Evra was abhorrent
Thought Williams was great although lucky not to be sent off. Chico should have been sent off definitely and Van Persie was lucky to stay on. Swansea did nothing in the second half although were good in the first half. Quite a dirty team though.

Thought carrick was poor tbh, gave it away a good few times though he played young in well in the first half.
Young I thought was better than he has been but still pretty naff though 10 times better than Valencia.
No positives from the game for me if I'm honest.

So should Ashley Williams be tried for attempted murder? Overreaction alert.....
"Robin van Persie is lucky to be alive. It was a disgraceful act from their player today and he should be banned by the FA. Robin could have had a broken neck."

He does have bit of a point could have done him a lot of damage and whilst I knew he did it deliberately I wasn't particularly outraged at the time.
Thought there was a lot of gamesmanship from Swansea throughout the game so I wasn't particularly surprised Williams had taken his opportunity to give rvp a whack.
Mind you this ill feeling goes away for the players and staff if they actually play well and put away a mid table side who aren't great at the back.

God villa are Poopie, 2 minutes in and there 3 centre backs are all over the show unable to deal with a single striker.

What about Evra trying to get Routledge sent off, claiming an elbow after a blatant shoulder to shoulder? Man Utd under Fergie - Undoubtedly superb team, but lack class.

I'd say we are one of the better behaved sides all in all- which teams do you think have more class?

Wow. Chelsea 8-0 Villa and they missed a pen! Joint best GD in the league now, Chelsea have been steadily improving under Benitez - do Chelsea fans still want him out?
As for Alex Ferguson Still can't take a bad result on the chin.

They annoy me for various reasons ranging from play style, inconsistency/lack of effort except against big teams and some of them are just plain crap.
Villa have hung about for 2 decades mopping up tv money generated by other teams performances and have done nothing, time for someone else to have a go.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
fair play to chelsea. our biggest defeat in the prem.
thought we would lose, but by the odd goal.
in fairness this result is unacceptable.
a prem team team wouldnt beat a league 2/conference team by that score.
its been a strange old season for us.
Benteke looked lost today, caught offside so many times, a frustated man.
hope the team pick themselves up. Spurs boxing day.
Shocking today Villa, after a good spell, time to gpet back on track quick sharp.

Williams should probably have seen red. Smashing the ball from 2 yards at the back of someone's head when play has clearly stopped is cowardly. If Van P had got up and give he a slap then we all know he'd have been sent off. I know which would hurt more.

Well in the first prem season we came second.
Chasing Man utd all the way.
Won the coca cola cup in 94 & 96
Runners up in 2000 FA cup.
Runners up in carling cup in 09/fa cup semi finalists same year.
Been in europe few times.
Under O'Neil came 6th 3 seasons in a row.
To me thats hardly done nothing.
I think people just look at the last couple of seasons when we have been poor, base things on that.
A team that has done nothing as you put it, would be a team that constantly finishes 15-17th every season.
But we all have our opinions.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
To all those saying sir Alex's comments are an overreaction, a few years back I played football at my local goals centre and after we had a good solid 45 minute 7 a side game we decided to have a break, however one joker decided that he was going to surprise a player laying on his back, looking up at the sky gathering his breath by smacking the ball at point blank range into his head. That person is now confined to a wheelchair after having severe damage to his spinal cord and yes he could have been killed.

Ent being a Man Utd fan you can probably look down your nose at every English club to be honest.
Would you like a Premier League made up of half a dozen teams? Sound like that to me...

I like a 20 team league, just gotten weary of certain clubs for various reasons, some rational some not so rational.
With the sensible head on I'd like the 20 biggest clubs in the country (stadia + fan base + history) and a good spread of the cash to try and make it as competitive as possible.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
United's defence is awful. On the flip side, their attack is world-class and they can easily score more than any opposition in the Premier League. I have no idea how much money Fergie has, but he needs to invest in the defence and midfield in January. Do that and the title is all but sealed up because this is the weakest Premier League in some time. Man City were the worst winners of the league in a long time and lost again today and are 7 points adrift, Chelsea may be picking up pace but they're not in United's class at the moment. And as we pass through Boxing Day, Everton and West Brom are leading the race for 4th place - no one would have said that at the start of the season!

Well a disappointing result in the end but we played ok and put up a fight! To be fair Chelsea defended really well, as did both teams, and the only bit of class in the game won the game. Mata's goal was a good one

Joking aside, fair play to them. Play to their strengths, only 14 let in, impressive.
