2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
First topic message reminder :
The discussion(s) continue here guys.
Unbelievable win for the Canaries tonight which see's Man City top for the first time this season, will they hold on.
QPR - still without a win - look doomed and Aston Villa drop into the bottom 3.

Was at the game yesterday.
One of the worst performances by a Villa team I have seen in a long time.
Again defence giving oposing team so much time and space.
Wigan to their credit passed it about well.
We had one shot on target and that was in the 89th minute.
The young lads are not yp to it at the moment, we have about 6/7 players injured.
Benteke didnt get any service. Simple passes not being played. To many stupid mistakes.
Concerning times no doubt, but its only the half way point of the season.
See what Lambert has up his sleeve in the transfer window.
Seriously need a top quality midfielder.
Hopefully Bent will stay and get back to form.
Him and Benteke up front will be a decent partnership.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
Well arguably the worst half of football I have ever seen from a premier league side. Very sorry sight to see.
No effort or commitment, appalling defending especially for the second goal where everyone stood still, Suarez had no right to get to that ball and fire home. They gave up completely towards the end of the half. I bet Harry can't wait to get rid of allot of these over paid players who are clearly not up to it.
Suarez has been fantastic however not taking anything away from him. If QPR score first the crowd will be back on side and you never know. First goal crucial this second half and QPR need to get it. Liverpool score it could 5/6, in fairness QPR are lucky it isn't at half time.

hodge wrote:My view on the Bale incident yesterday, yes there was contact but what Bale says about if theres contact you're not diving is ridiculous, think Bale could have easily stayed on his feet yesterday and thats why it was a dive, if you can stay on your feet and choose to hit the floor, simple.
MOTD highlighted Aguero, chose to stay on his feet to have a shot yesterday when he could have dived, but also his premier league winning goal last season, he was clipped just before he took the shot but stayed on his feet. Exactly how players should be.
I agree with hat hodge has said about this but I think it depends where in the box the contact takes place whether a player will decide to go down or not. I saw the bit on MotD about Aguero and, whilst I can only remember the PL winning goal, Aguero was in and around 6 yard box when he chose to stay on his feet as he had a very good chance of scoring (plus it was desperate times for Man City as it was the 90 oddth minute). I wonder if Aguero had been running away from the goal or was at least in the position Bale was (to the left of the goal, about 12-15 yards out) whether he would have gone down or not.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
I think there is a valid point about speed at which the player is running at. Too us, the contact may be minimal, but it may be just enough to knock a player off balance at high speed causing him to fall.
I agree, Bale has gone down too easy at times, but then again I think he has genuine cause for complaint as highlighted yesterday. He was in a flat out sprint and was knocked at the knee. You can clearly see, where he was knocked is off balance and then has the knock on effect causing him to fall. I don't think he dived, its just the contact didn't look much in real time but in slow mo, its clear it was enough to knock him off balance when running at the speeds he does.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
I think Bale could have at least attempted to stay up with his left leg. I'm getting sick of seeing players, not just Bale, get slight contact and if there's a chance they could stay up they make their foot floppy so they can't stay up. You see it on replays all the time, a player gets a knock and immediately his leading foot will lose it's rigidness and just bend at the ankle as it touches the turf.
I really hate Bale but feel sorry for him this weekend because he got "yet another booking for diving" it's overshadowed Defoe's horrendous attempt at conning the ref. Bale's tricks must be rubbing off on Defoe.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 2
i think if your one leg is knocked the other one tends to lose its balance also but i agree players should make more of an attempt to stay up. But then allot of the time when they do try and stay on their feet the ref doesn't play advantage. Ironically the one player who always attempts to stay on his feet despite being kicked to death is the best player in the world in Messi.

Major injuries and suspensions for both Norwich and West Ham today!!!
We have no forwards and they have no midfielders! Should be fun

Since when did a Sam Allarddyce team ever need a midfield Olly? What are they out with? Sore necks?
Sorry Hammers fans, couldn't resist.

Good goal by Dimmy B. I'm not sure why West Brom went with Lukaku over Odemwingie; I'm not sure trying to bulldoze down Fulham's defence is the way to go.

True, plus the Fulham defence is looking softer than normal (Briggs has had a shocker these past 9 minutes). That ball through the defence was awful defending!!

Not a good performance but the referee has cost us the game there. 2 clear penalties denied, there penalty was the softest one you'll see all season and should have been another 10 in the game if the ref was consistent and there second goal came when Tettey was down on the floor with a head injury and the ref just jogs by and lets play go on and they score.
I sure hope the old saying, "it evens itself up over the course of the season" comes true because we have got a heck of a lot of decisions coming our way in the latter half of this season
