Hatton Undercard Empty Hatton Undercard

Post by hampo17 Sat 24 Nov 2012, 12:41 pm

All the talk for the last few weeks has been about Ricky, and rightly so. But has given his fighters the chance to prepare without having cameras stuck in their face every 5 minutes which is bound to help. So how do we see those going?

I think Gary Buckland will get through his fight against Steven Forster JR. Forster JR is a decent boxer but Bucklands power is the real equaliser. I also feel Murray will beat Navarro in a WBA Interim fight putting him right back in the title mix. The one I can't pick is Munroe and Quigg, before the last fight I picked Munroe but Quigg had the better of what little action there was. Possibly Munroe underestimated just how skilled Quigg, hopefully there will be no cuts though.

Quigg Monroe is the one I am most looking forward to.Obviously trying to make a sensible prediction based on two completed rounds of action is a risky business but my thoughts on the last fight was Quigg, after having some issues in the first round has started to work Monroe out and will prevail this time round, but is not a predicition you'd make with any great confidence, as you say though just hope it runs its course this time

I fancied Munroe last time and I'll go with him again. Munroe is a massive step up to anything he's faced before and I've not seen a performance from Quigg to make me believe he can beat him. Hes been troubled off leaser fighters. Munroe points.

Buckland and Murray will win there respective fights.

For once a complete card of competitive fights for a change. I think Foster Jr has had his day and will lose to Buckland inside the distance. Murray to win comfortbly against his unbeaten but untested opponent.

As for Quigg Munroe, so far if you take away Quiggs win over Booth he has not done much and for me has always been number 3 in the country and I always thought he would lose eventually to Frampton until these matches were made. I think Quigg starts well but will slowly get worn down by Rendall. I'm going for a late stoppage for Rendall or a controversial draw with the bin man well on top by the end.

all four of the main fights have a clear favourite, but hopefully we will see at least one upset. i think foster jnr might have the best chance. buckland isnt too powerful, he just hit one good shot on prizefighter that got all the casual fans fooled i think

Quigg-Munroe is the only fight that really excites me and I'm going for Quigg again by razor thin decision like I thought before the first fight

As someone mentioned Quigg was beginning to time Munroe and wa spooling strong and sharp and I think the same will happen. The only question will be who will finish the stronger and at first glance Munroe would be the more likely to do so given their records but Quigg is a really physically fit lad and works the body well so I can see him closing well nicking the rounds needed to win the fight

Hatton ring walk is approx 10pm so I'd say around 9 for the Quigg fight.

Good first round from Buckland, getting to the body early and remembering Fosters last loss he was vulnerable to the body shots going down 5 times

Quigg big favourite with bookies, just been quoted 2/5, rubbish. Munroe only 2/1 though.

I've got this 2 rounds each but its very close every round. Both throwing lots of body shots so you'd think something has to give.

Buckland-Foster is pretty good so far, think it'll go down to who is better conditioned. Buckland throwing lots and not letting up on the inside especially to the body but foster is landing cleaner shots to the head

If buckland can go 11 with Murray who is a lightweight you would think that foster would feel the pace more

Surprises that this is on so early, the card ends at 11 so you would have thought it would have been on at least at 9 given its the chief support fight. The place is empty

Got Quigg ahead here, the more effective work coming from him whereas Munroe seems a little lacking in bite.

Not sure what the hype about Quigg is, though, I think Frampton has him for breakfast.

Yea Quigg is the sharper and has found Munroe's body easily

Quigg looks better moving forward but I feel he knows that Munroe is as tough as him and quite a bit bigger and would like it to become a brawl to make up for his lack of hand speed

It's over, Quigg stops him in the 6th

A great left hook to the liver put him down and then Quigg went after him and put him down with a body shot again

Good stoppage, those body shots were bound to have an effect. He boxed intelligently there Quigg, would very much look forward to a bout between he and Frampton.

Have to feel for Munroe, he's a tough cookie but I think he's slightly past his best now and it showed. The Munroe that fought Nishioka would have given Quigg a far tougher time you feel.

Wow he stopped him, that is impressive, Nishioka fired body shots at him for 12 rounds and couldn't put him away.

Excellent result, unfortunately for him he is in one of the strongest divisions in boxing, there isn't a soft touch for a title.

He's only 32 and its not like he's suffered loads of punishment with only 27 or so fights so Munroe wasn't that past his peak

Quigg's works the body brilliantly and will it'll be interesting to see how Frampton will take them. Looking forward to that, but given the given crop of champions I can't see either becoming champion for a number of years

Mixed feelings. I have a soft spot for good professionals such as Rendall but Scott deserved it!

Hope Rendall gets a few pay days before hanging up the gloves. He was flat tonight.

That is unless Donaire moves up and Mares and Rigo move up to chase him. Then you have Santa Cruz, Moreno.... that side of the division is just ridiculous in terms of talent.

Very good win for Quigg, one I thought he would get but not like that.
A definite step in class and he proved himself. Fought an intelligent fight.
Would love to see Frampton vs Quigg but reckon they will stay away from each other.
It would be really nice to see them both get world titles and then fight a unification. But it's a really tough division. Oh well here's hoping!

Not so sure WHU, Munroe has had a punishing but short career, he has for the most part relied on his ability to soak up pressure and use his superior size and strength to overcome opponents. So the way he has to squeeze down to super bantamweight every time must take a toll on his body eventually.

I wouldn't read in to it, Quigg has repeatedly called out Frampton and likewise Frampton has Quigg and I think Quigg has just said that he doesn't really care who he fights now and may be getting bored because of the lack of movement in regards to making the fight

Sexual tension probably

I agree that Frampton could bowl him over though but its a bit early for them to fight with not enough reward.

Munroe came forward and was busy but he either missed or hit arms a lot. Quigg seemd to throw a little less but was far more effective at hitting the target especially the body.

Not sure, hes good but not world level and was gifted a title shot imo. I thought that he lost to Sturm as a lot of his punches had nothing on them and though Macklin was a lot better against a fresher Sturm than Murray fought

Murray is looking good. Talk is he'll fight Geale soon which would be a barnstormer he'll lose unfortunately as Geale is really good. Middleweight is looking very strong, Geale, Golkovin and Martinez will be the top dogs for some time.

Local lad Murray, hope he does well - lives near me and met him a few times, nice bloke.
