Since the summer of 2011 how do you rate Rhys Priestland out of 10?
PRIESTLAND - Pantomime villan or just pure rubbish?
Is he not that bad? is it just convenient to pick on him?
Are we being too harsh? Even though he does the right things wrong, the good things bad, the wrong things right, makes insanely stupid decisions and is pretty average in attack.
How many more times will he be selected. I'm sure deep down it is starting to cause tensions in the Wales camp. When you have Hook and Biggar playing so well for their clubs. They must think to themselves what is going on.
This is how I see Priestland's career with Wales so far...
Autumn warm up's 2011 - Quite good
South Africa RWC - Average. Missed a match winning EASY drop goal. Did we all forget that?
Ireland RWC - His best performance to date. After that he was injured and did not feature again in the WC.
Six Nations - TERRIBLE TERRIBLE performance with the boot against Ireland but played generally OK. Was DISASTROUS against England and even got a sin bin. How Wales won a grand slam is beyond me?
It's been just over a year and I have seem glimmers of a good player, but all in all I see someone who can not deal with pressure and makes easy mistakes because of the magnitude of the responsibilities bestowed upon him.
THINGS MUST CHANGE NOW AND THIS IS MY ASSESSMENT FOR FUTURE WALES 10'S
James Hook is a born winner and try scorer. His time is running out though he has been wasted for 4 years now by Wales. When he came on the scene New Zealand couldn't give enough superlatives for the lad. He must start next week and against Ireland in 2013.
Dan Biggar is an excellent player but has NEVER started against good international opposition. Just his luck to get injured against Samoa.
Matthew Morgan. I have seen what this little freak is capable of. He comes from the alternate fly half factory that Jiffy, Arwel Thomas and Shane Williams came from. Richard Webster said he is one of the best players he has ever seen. Not something you throw about too often. Wales desperately crave this kind of player in the back line. Without Shane Williams we only have JD2 making breaks and trying stuff. Get this lad on the fast track.
