How can so many people defend Robinson?

First topic message reminder :

I see on here and on other forums and blogs many people saying that Robinson had done a good job. I cannot follow the logic in this. can anyone explain?

The players play worse for him than for their clubs - or they were playing better before he coached it out of them ( Laidlaw)

Bizzare selections such as Parks in the last 6N and Lamont at centre

Clearly a decent honest man with passion for the game but promoted beyond his abilities

sorry i am gonna rephrase that!!

pick someone that has a long term view into developmemet- someone that truely cares is gonna be the best bet! someone who cares is invariably gonna be scottish!

IU would prefer a scottish coach but we have no one who would make a credible candidate. I am not prepared to put up with second best to get a scot

second best today could be best for long term though.

I am very happy england chose second best in SL and Hodgson..

we have been there dude- all this paying foreign managers for success doesnt work

there should be some Scottishness as part of the coaching panel - that will provide the coaching team with some context as to where the players have come from. Other than that, we should be going for the best coach that we can afford that matches our ambitions at national rugby level

there is something humble about accepting that managers should be from your nation- when you lose its not so hard on ya!!

trust me its a big factor in reagrds to acceptance of where you are.. and i have a feeling its the most benefical thing to do long term as well

but yeah you lot can say i am talking rubbish- thats fine. Wanna just get it there- fact is when i mentioned that some of Robbos issues might be because he is scottish is not a dog at the scottish , i actually i agree it is an issue and almost should be an issue- Basically if your gonna play bad, then play bad united!!

I hope england never ever go international again for managers in rugby or football.

I think flower in cricket is kinda ok due to the fact that we have a history of saffa breed players, and although i support team england and wales.. It doesnt pull on my heart strings as much. but when it comes to rugby and football- we are all so nationalistic..

SL is english(or does he have some scot in him!!- i dunno), the rest are english- however sl was just an interim coach, we were looking into getting a foriegn manager over him for a period of time. I am glad we stuck with him- he isnt experienced and could be considered second best

isnt he really! thats weird he has allways lived in england and was born in england- only coached at english clubs and went to english schools- or is that all incorrect!

Strokes, I've deleted all the noise to hopefully make it easier - you said you had "been there" with "foreign managers" - I was simply trying to illustrate that you'd only had English managers by listing them? Does that help?

Strokes, my Lancaster being Scottish comment was tongue-in-cheek cos he did play either for a Scotttish age-group side or Scottish universities or something similar - don't sweat it

I know they are all english(including lancaster though!!)

but we considered forgein managers at the time of SL's appointment and england football have also gone back to an english manager- when we could have forked out another 15m a year on the latest forign sensation!

good luck to scotland anyway- I like seeing all the home nations do well..

I understand that many dont see forign managers as being a problem- but i do. There is no points to refute, its all opinions.. and I understand why some scottish rugby fans would have an issue with Robbo being there manager!!(to say that no one had that issue is bending the truth)
