Scarlets v Ulster next Sunday
First topic message reminder :
How poxed lucky are Ulster? They get to play the 2nd place team in the league....away.....on the weekend that Wales play Australia.
On the other hand it is on a Sunday and their HC game v Northampton is on the following Friday.
So, a few swings mixed in with the roundabouts there. Especially considering Northampton have their game on the Friday.
I'm sure Ulster will cope. Better off having the 2 away matches in a row IMHO
Ulster Team:
P Nelson; A Trimble, D Cave, L Marshall, C Gilroy; P Jackson, P Marshall;
(1-8): C Black, R Herring, J Afoa, J Muller (c), N McComb, I Henderson, R Diack, R Wilson;
Replacements (16-23): R Best, T Court, R Lutton, D Tuohy, M McComish, M Heaney, N O’Connor, T Bowe.
Scarlet's Team:
15. Dan Newton 14. Kristian Phillips 13. Gareth Maule 12. Gareth Owen 11. Andy Fenby 10. Aled Thomas 9. Gareth Davies 1. Phil John 2. Emyr Phillips 3. Jacobie Adriaanse 4. Johan Snyman 5. Richard Kelly 6. George Earle 7. Johnathan Edwards (capt) 8. Kieran Murphy
Replacements
16. Kirby Myhill 17. Shaun Hopkins 18. Deacon Manu 19. Tomas Vallejos 20. Craig Price 21. Aled Davies 22. Adam Warren 23. Nick Reynolds

Dear oh dear Scarlets, that lineout was about as straight as Graham Norton.
Court and Best on and immediately they force a penalty. Paddy going for the sticks.

That Ulster coach looks like Nick Clegg!
Phew that was close...Murphy could've been in there...ref says forward pass though.

Roger Wilson has had a superb game so far, 3 or 4 handling errors but seems to be everywhere tonight.

Oh no. Ulster man in the bin. Just when Scarlets are starting to bring their most experienced players. Thankfully Thomas misses the penalty kick.

Yellow card for Touhy
Chance for the Scarlets now, they need to make the most of the advantage.
But Aled Thomas misses another penalty.

Ulster determined to hand this game over to Scarlets. Despite the abject play of the Welsh. They should be two or three tries up by now.

Jaysus I'm not sure how exactly Tuohy was meant to roll away there when Scarlets were first holding him down then lying on him ref. At least they missed the pen
Re: Scarlets v Ulster next Sunday
Well actually on second look that's pretty harsh, he's doing his best there.

Re: Scarlets v Ulster next Sunday
We're kicking loosely and missing tackles. It'll just take Scarlets to get it right once to make it a horribly tight finish.
Can't get back to 15 quickly enough!

It's been another poor performance on the road, luckily we remain a very hard team to beat!

Like The Undertones once sang "A teenage dream's so hard to beat..."
Anyway, there's five minutes to go and the Scarlets will be after a LBP.

He's quite strong. Big potential.
Not sure how to feel about next week after this! We are in poor form but winning games. Hopefully we should see this one and deny the LBP. We must out some phases together.

I think this will be a cracking win if we pull it off. The set piece has been excellent. We've probably tried to play too much rugby in poor conditions though. Kicking game has been a mixed bag, some crackers and some howlers. Overall not a bad nights work though........

Re: Scarlets v Ulster next Sunday
Pretty disappointed to concede the LBP at the end, and with the all round performance.
Still, a win is a win. We have the patent on winning ugly. But we need to up the performance levels for the rest of December in a big way.

Thomas is a poor kicker from hand, but I'm not sure the Scarlets would have that much to gain from RP's return.

Re: Scarlets v Ulster next Sunday
Well positives
Thats 12 from 12 now at the end of the day thats huge
Scrum was excellant
Lineout and restarts look a lot better with fully qualified locks
Muller got 40 mins and Best go some time after injury
A lot of the boys got back into club jerseys having not been together for a while we needed that to get our cohesiveness back
So we certainly can't complain to much from this now the big away game next week. SUFTUM

Well done Ulster. You still win when you don't play well.
Fairdo's to Thomas for nailing that kick to get the LBP. I thought for a moment it had gone wide.
