HERSH is very Knowlegable and pretty passionate about Rugby, he has ruffled my feathers a few times but I guarentee I won't be the only one.
I suppose he ruffle's my feathers because most of what he says (particularly about Scottish rugby) is true.
There is a good poster in there somewhere. If not a very tactful one!

RuggerRadge has a good point, 'Tactful' is something Hersh needed to be more of.

Fixed that for you
I enjoyed reading some of his stuff. Unfortunately for him even when he wasn't having a WUM quite a lot of his jokes relied on "tone" being picked up off the written word - and because of his history many people assumed the worst "tone" in all his posts. Which all to often led to someone attacking him, someone else reacting and a bunfight that for the mods to fix.

Biggest problem with bleeding internet forums, facebook, twitter, text messages etc. Me and my misses had a big barny once, after she text me asking me to do something or other for he, like buy milk on the way home or something, i replied back with "has anyone told you to go <fornicate> yourself today? What was that no? Oh well consider it done!" jokingly and did whatever it was she wanted to do. Unfortunately she didn't read it the jokey way it was meant and I was in the dog house for a while (worse she told my mam about it and I was in the dog house with her too).

That is our general policy TJ.
Hersh and AWoP have both had a fair number of bans. And for what it's worth we tried an approach of warning them when they were going over the top as well - it didn't work.

Question is, is there anyway for banned posters to get in contact with the admins should they want to change their ways and return?
Personally, i would like to see HERSH back.

That's fair enough I suppose. If people aren't going to heed warnings and interventions then there's no other course of action to be pursued. I will echo what's been said above about HERSH, that in essence he was a knowledgeable poster but frequently trod a fine line.
For what it's worth I joined this forum in the hope that it would be a reformed version of the old 606 which all too often descended into absurdity. I have to say that generally I have found other posters to be considerate and informed and the more we stick to that philosophy the better quality rugby debate we can all have.

There is a precedent on the boxing section where a couple of posters emailed the admins (there's a "contact" link right at the bottom of the page) laying out their case for a return, and we discussed it and agreed.
I'd like a few weeks of (relative) peace and quiet.

I don't post every day but most days I follow the more interesting threads. I think the mods do a pretty good job and get the balance right between allowing a bit of banter and hitting those that cross the line.
If posters have been banned it's probably for good reason and hopefully there is a way back (after a bit of peace and quiet !) for those who see the error of their ways.

To be honest, whilst HERSH was generally annoying he could be quite amusing. AWOP/ on the other hand was simply offensive and was the main reason I stopped posting for 6 months. I cant help but echo the sentiments above that he should have much gone sooner which would have saved a lot of hassle. Hopefully HERSH can be rehabilitated though.

Re: Where's HERSH
The thing is posters like AWOP & HERSH mostly post with opinions, backed up by cold, hard facts.
This not only gets under other posters skins because the opinions are always supplimented with facts and it makes their point/argument very difficult to counter.
The best posters on here do the same thing, although they dress their points up better and it comes across as less coarse.

Re: Where's HERSH
I never really had a problem with HERSH either. He always spoke his mind and on quite a few occasions you couldn't fault what he said, he knew his stuff and was very passionate about what he saw was wrong with the game/England.
Problem was (as others have pointed out) was that when he did this about other teams and countries it was seen as very wum like and insulting, he lacked tact in that department, but always stuck to his guns.
AWOP on the other hand seemed to post nothing but bile and i agree that he should have gone a long time ago.
Anyway, thanks MODS for taking care of things and keep up the good fight.

When!? AWOP posted complete tosh that was backed up by more tosh. Once he got over his 'pidgeon' english phase he obviously started in the sensationalist-language-for-the-Sunday-Sport type of writing.

Re: Where's HERSH
HERSH threw a lot of (Bath type) mud (tongue in cheek) Gloucester's way, but we all had the humour to spot it and not to overreact.
I don't think any Glos fans every got into a 'citing level' slanging match with Hersh. We just bantered with him and laughed.
Not sure if other posters got over-sensitive, but I do not know all the circumstances.
I trust the Mods here to have managed & judged it all correctly, so though I'll miss Hersh, he must have done something.

I can't stand him, good riddance I say!
There is no doubt some of his posts touched on being a wum, but they weren't vindictive or trolling, they were always with a touch of humour. But despite him being my bitter rival, I thoroughly enjoy his banter and this place will be worse of without him. I suggest we reinstate him, but make him sit in the corner with a dunce's cap.

Re: Where's HERSH
This is like one of those films where a set of circumstances cause a group to pull together.
I've never seen so many people stick up for someone...
It's good to see.
I echo most people's comments that HERSH was definitely knowledgeable, and was here to post about rugby.
Some others only seemed to be here to argue and see how many people they could annoy (a bit of a waste of their lives as I see it)
However, forums without mods and without bans are usually amongst the worst forums on the internet.
I'd like to give the mods a +1 for the good work that they do here.

Glad HERSH is gone lost count of the number of threads that he sabotaged by turning it into a 'Rabo vs Aviva' charade, or England vs Wales or just having a pop at the Celtic nations in general, became very tedious, hence why he did it and was a wum that got banned.

Here's a different view.
I thought AWOP was funny and insightful while he was doing the learning English thing. As soon as he dropped it he got stupid and deserved banning.
I had less problem with Hersh than I do with others who seemed to go on longer about non issues.

Re: Where's HERSH
I'm sad that both of them are gone. They spiced up the site and threads. I can fully understand why both have been given their marching orders. They just take too much time and energy to manage.
For me they both have strong opinions, a love of the game and passion for their teams. AWOP gets bad press, but I'm not sure he's worse than a number of other posters. In many ways he's similar to Hersh.
I'd say if you don't want AWOP back, then the same should apply for HERSH. I'd happily have both of them back, if a way could be found.

HERSH Apologises
I want to say how bad I feel and how embarrassed I am to be in this situation,” said HERSH. “It is not the BATH way and I have let myself down and the team and probably the whole country is pretty proud of what we do.
I hope Roger Lewis does recover and get back up and running and play in the creche as soon as he can.
I have been on the phone and talked to him on Sunday about the incident and obviously the 606v2 management and the leader group that I am a part of has been pretty stern on me for getting us into this situation.
I have to take what I have got and go back and start building a reputation as a good, clean, hard trollr and hopefully I can do that in the next 6 Nations competition when I get back online.
