The Capital One Cup draw would normally be the Saturday after the ties, i'd imagine one of the numbers will represent "Leeds United or Chelsea" in an FA Cup style.

To be fair, Cook survived a few decisions that he should have been given out to in previous tests, call it luck evening itself out.

I will not. Luck stole his double century in the last test, it can go fish! GladKP didn't get a century, I hate the guy.

What happend with Pietersen? Why was he dropped from the England team, was it over a text or a fake twitter account. I remember at one time when he had the skunk haircut and blue dye he was supposed to be the best.

KP is a footballer in cricket gear, all about himself and never the team, people say sport needs character, he's not a character he's a to**er.

I don't like KP, but today he dug in and played for the team. It is a myth that he bats just for himself, it is just his style of play to be more attacking. And as far as ability, he is our best batsman, like him or not. He is still the wicket that the opposition want to get the most because he is our biggest threat.

Disappointed to see Compo out so cheapily today. Considering he is not an opener for us, he had not started too badly in previous tests

Cook is England's best batsman. No question, KP can be great, but he's inconsistent. And a moron. His wife is fit though

KP played for England because he was upset at the selection policies of SA cricket. In effect they were giving black players opportunities he thought should have been his. So he moved here, played 5 years and naturalised for us.

I'm off the San Francisco and Las Vegas until January 4th, so I won't be here at all I guess.

He turned down South Africa because he didn't like their racial quota system that he claims stopped him getting a place. He qualified for England because his mother is English.

If he has an English mum, why did he have a qualifying period? Are cricket rules different to football?

Not entirely sure, but he had to play 4 years at Notts before he could play.

I'd love to be inconsistent enough to average a smidgeon under 50 in both first class and test cricket, score 22 test hundreds in 90 ish tests and have a conversion rate for fifties into hundreds of around 44%.

Compare to Cookie, who averages 50.02 in tests, 48.64 in first class games in around the same number of tests, has 23 hundreds at a conversion rate of 44%

If Pietersen is inconsistent, so is Cook

Cook is inconsistent, as shown when he went for 1 from 28 balls today following his run of centuries

Asamoah's playing LWB for Juventus and Lichtsteiner (not Lesteiner) at RWB in the same side, so maybe worth using them in those positions and playing a 3-5-2 system?

I think what I mean Afro is with his talent (which I think is far greater than Cook's and one of if not the best in the world) he should be scoring more runs than he is.

I do believe he is the most talented player apart from Tendulkar that I have seen properly since I started watching cricket in 2005 (Didn't see much of Lara)

Oh and that goal Chelsea conceded today. Cech has to come for that

I agree with that Olly. He should be averaging more like 55, along with the likes of Tendulkar and Kallis.

it would be interesting to see what he averages when has not had to come in following a top order collapse and he hasn't been able to play his natural game.

I would sit Diarra deeper. Nocerino should be played box to box, whilst Sidney Sam is going to want to get forward as much as possible.

But I think from that base you'd need to improve your CB's, get cover if Lichtsteiner is injured, another CM or two and go from there.

If South africa thought he was really great I'm sure they would have put him in the team with the other top players. Don't England have another South Africa reject in the side? No wonder we never win when we take the fringe players of other countries.

You've got three quite decent strikers in Aubameyang, Matavz and Hemed so it's not a priority IMO.

We have Jonathan Trott, yes. Sounds like a classic English name though

SA did think highly of him, but he made his decision and stuck to it.

Cherries, if you need another CB, you can have William Gallas for £3m? He's hardly a world beater but he definitely trumps Anton Ferdinand...
