Re: Hashim Amla
Along with AB, Hashim is my favourite player.
I was glad when he developed into the world class player we now see. He was claimed to be a quota pick in the early days, but in SA we knew he was a little bit special.
Over the last 24 months he's become a machine.
His ODI stats are crazy!

What I admire of Hashim is he looks the same from ball 1 to say ball 600, I understand why you like AB aswell, its their 'technique' they show something different.
Amla - He crouched like Quasimodo at the crease, he shuffled about nervously as if waiting for a job interview, the bat came down in a parabola from somewhere in the region of point.

I think AB has tried to model himself on Kallis, not a bad man to try and emulate!PPVxHOTTY wrote:What I admire of Hashim is he looks the same from ball 1 to say ball 600, I understand why you like AB aswell, its their 'technique' they show something different.

Amla's technique does seen to have various moving parts, but it's remarkable how successful it's been for him.
If you saw him on debut and today there's not been too many changes. I guess talent all ways comes good if you try hard enough!

More importantly for me, Amla is a great role model for children in humility, application, dedication and hard work.

I must admit to have had serious doubts about him at first. He often looked very fragile but SA stuck with him and he has turned into arguably the best batsman in the world right now. Cook is giving him a run for his money though

Re: Hashim Amla
He has certainly improved from the "early" Amla ...looks a fine all round batsman now.
Reckon his main asset is his calm attitude ...nothing bothers him. Had to laugh when the Aussies mooted the idea of sledging him as a tactic
Serenity is the word that comes to mind.

Re: Hashim Amla
Yeah, I was wandering what they were going tosledge him about.
"hey boys, here comes Mr. Consistency."
"Hey boys, he scored tons of runs the last three years, maybe today he won't"
hey boys, let's see if we can crack that calm facade"
"wlecome Bunny,... Oh no that was Cullinan."

They should have deployed jelly beans, maybe that would have stopped him

They're not all thugs, the thugs are appointed, the rest must play rugby.Peter Seabiscuit Wheeler wrote:Biltong wrote:More importantly for me, Amla is a great role model for children in humility, application, dedication and hard work.

Hey Biltong, do you know of any South African cricketer with the last name Kelly? Apparently he captained KP years ago?
