I took the kids to the cinema yesterday to watch Rise of the Guardians , it's good but not great .......but the kids loved it so if your stuck for something to do then it's a good way to keep them entertained for a hour and half or so .

And Samuel L "Mutha****ing" Jackson uses his favourite word within 15 seconds of being on screen...

Watched Django last night and would pretty much agree with this review

Total Recall (2012) version - very good, although it didn't have the humour of the original it also didn't have the silly bits. Reminded me of Blade Runner but without the sentiment.

Liked farrel in seven physcopaths- but not total recall.

a remake that wasnt needed in my view- but then not the biggest fan of the original either. typical action sci fy flic- certainly doesnt/didnt have the same impact as the original- which really was a big deal back in the day

Not much of a sci-fi fan apart from the original star wars trilogy but was blown away by the original total recall. Was quite keen to dislike the 2012 version but it was too good to disregard.

John Carter: Did horrible at the box office but some decent review for some, you felt like it was building up to sequels but don't know will that happen now, still I thought it was a solid effort, Taylo Kitsch (i.e Tim Riggins as you may know him) did quite a good job as Carter and Lynn Collins was enjoyable as the love interest. Kind of like Star Wars in some ways but it was written over a 100 years ago. I think it could get a bit of a cult following liek Tron did in some ways actually.

I watched The Adjustment Bureau last night. Wasn't expecting that much from it but loved the concept and thought it was was very well shot. I was absolutely hooked from the first few minutes.

I think it was criminally underrated by the critics.

Empire of the Sun, great cinematography & Christian Bale's performance (he's about 12 at the time) is phenomenal. When kids play lead roles I often find myself half-heartedly hoping they'll get shot but not in this case.

Agreed. Matt Damon and especially Emily Blunt fantastic I thought - both such versatile performers. I recall she was a bit peed off (albeit with a bit of tongue in cheek) having gone through so much arduous and painful ballet training (from a zero base? - memory fuzzy on that point), yet Natalie Portman took all the plaudits and awards in the same year for Black Swan.

Watched Super the other night and was thoroughly disappointed. I was a big fan of Kick Ass and was told that this film would be like Kick Ass but even better but it was just odd.

It was supposed to be a comedy, but I don't think I laughed once. The only redeeming feature of the film was Ellen Page. But I definitely wouldn't recommend the film to anybody.

super is dark and different to the norm. Also yes it can be funny-(but it is a black comedy!!).. really good spin and p!ss take on the genre IMO..

If you want something different then check it out- If black comedy isnt your thing - then it probally isnt for you!

6.5/10 for me..

Gets points for Sex Machine being a badass and sheer audacity and ridiculousness and Salma Hayek. Literally like they wrote half an excellent plot then ran out of time and said "bugger it, let's just shove random crap in now"

Completely disagree.

I thought it was better than kickass and one of the best films I saw last year.

Rainn Wilson was amazing in it and I personally thought it was hilarious. And his catchphrase was immense! !

I thought it was one of that films which thought it was a lot funnier than it actually was. I understand that it's supposed to be a black comedy but it essentially relied on the same joke throughout the entire film and that joke actually wasn't that good.

Finally watched Skyfall, if that means anything to anyone... I thought it was good, bit of a different Bond approach which I like (a bit like A Licence to Kill). Have to disagree with the ones who said it was ruined by delving into Bond's past. I thought that was interesting. Now I'm just wondering will they ever carry on from Casino Royale/QOS?

I also watched Unknown, the movie with Liam Neeson. That's pretty good. It's available on LoveFilm.

Just saw Les Miserables, good film, singing/acting was done very well, Sasha Baron Cohen was a surprise (even though I have seen Sweeny Todd), never realised there were so many cockneys in 19th centuary France, Missus enjoyed it more than I did.

A horrible mish-mash of funny skits surrounded with a loose plot about some kids trying to prank each other. Definitely a "WTF?" film.

Some of the skits are very funny, others not so. Watch at your own risk...

Jack reacher - good film, I think it was based on a book but haven't read the book, which seemed to spoil the enjoyment for some people.

Looper - again a good film if a little predictable in parts. bruce willis seems to like time travelling movies.

Everything I know about love - don't know if this is the original title, the film is about an ex football pro, going to live in america to spend time with his kid and being chased by all the soccer-mums. Average film and average acting. Supposed to be a romantic comedy but isn't funny. My wife enjoyed it though.

Lawless. Dumb movie, the only thing that kept me watching was the gruesome violence. Shia Labeuf is such an irritating actor. Tom Hardy didn't really do anything apart from 'act' miserable and motionless throughout the entire movie.

Bullet to the Head.

Oh dear. Lots of gruesome action & executions. The only good thing in this film is Momoa, playing a psychotic ex-mercenary. The other characters are either so bland they might as well be played by anyone (the two main police detectives and Sung Kang's character) or so dislikeable you really don't care what happens to them (Stallone).

Add to this a plot which makes not much sense and you have a really flawed movie. If people like buddy-buddy movies I'd suggest re-watching a Lethal Weapon or even something so terrible as Showdown in Little Tokyo. They're better...

harry Brown..

Different take on the brit grit film..

Dark as anything,It could seem like an unrealistic concept- but it has more layers than most films like that..

The scene with sean harris is one of the most memorable.. He was the stand out performer even though he was only in this film for one scene!! One of the most hard hitting scenes in film I can remember

7.5/10

while i did laugh at a few things , im afraid Sacha Baron Cohen playing over the top characters is getting stale for me . 5 / 10

Watched a film called Will earlier. Never heard of it, but its about a young boy who hitchhikes across Europe to watch the 2005 champions league final.

Typical kids film, very feel good and the young lad is a pretty good actor as well.
