Priestland out for 6 months
First topic message reminder :
Priestland had surgery this morning on ruptured achillies. Will be out for 6 months approx - so who will be Wales number 10 for the 6 nations?
Biggar, Hook, Patchell?
p.s wishing Rhys a speedy recovery, never nice to see a player injured.

Talentless, cat to water, slow learner!
No, it's just a different way.
In the SH, they play a 1st and 2nd 5/8th. So most of their 1st 5/8th can play 2nd 5/8.
In the NH, we have flyhalves and centres, most flyhalves cannot play centre as they require different skills (although there are similarities)
Of course, my mistake. Like Umaga, Nonu, Sonny Bill ... all great 10s. And Mehrtens and Spencer? Also fab at 12.
Blimey this is complicated, but I think I get it now. A first-five-eighth is the same as an outside half, but a second-five-eighth isn't necessarily the same as an inside centre.
What's the difference between a lock and a second row?

Second five-eighth is like a second playmaker. Jamie Roberts is certainly not a second playmaker.

Rhys Priestland isn't a first playmaker.

Either that or he's been told which plays to make, and which not to make.

Was he told when to make, and when to miss, touch?

Count me out of the Priestland-bashing. He's had way more than any player deserves.

I concur. As I said at the 'top of the thread' - hope he makes a swift and full recovery.

I agree with LP. He may not be a Phil Bennett but he doesn't deserve the stick that he is getting. Perhaps Wales' problem is that you have been spoilt by having so many great SO's over the years that when there is a bit of a drop in standard, relatively speaking, you think the worst? Be thankful, you don't have Hobson's Choice of Laidlaw out of position, Jackson who is still living off one game against Bath about 142 years ago or Weir who looks like he has signed a large sponsorship deal with Greggs

I think Duncan Weir's a great little player.

Jiffy is backing Hook for the number 10 spot :

If you are applying "little" to his height as opposed to his waist, I would agree with you.
Seriously, though, he is a decent player but he isn't really what you would call a flair player - more of a steady-Eddie - but with the stodge we have in our midfield, we do need someone with a little bit of a spark

I don't know, Injured. I've seen him make breaks for Glasgow and he's got a fair turn of speed.
I acknowledge that you've probably seen more of him play than I have.

Re: Priestland out for 6 months
Rob Howely said in the Daily Mirror. That he is realy saddend about Rys Priestland's injury.
He also said that Rys will be a big loss for Wales come the 6ns?
Is/will Rys Priestland be such a big loss for Wales in the 6ns?

I think Biggar should be Wales 1st choice 10. he is very reliable, excellent goal kicker and very good decision maker.
Hook has missed the boat and was never great at 10 anyway. no one else as good as Biggar.
