Do we really want 5th, the pos and negs.
After the last few games it appears our chance of getting fifth are getting better. The question is, do we want it?
Negatives.
An extra diversion, to our required improvement in the prem next season. We (imo) have to get top four to keep moving forward as a club and there is the increased chance of injury and general tiredness from the obscene amount of games we'd be playing.
I don't think it would make a diffrence with player retention or aquisition.
Positives.
Beating spurs to fifth this season would be a massive boost to our self confidence as a club, it would be a real acheivment and would stand us in good step to move forward next season.
The europa could give us a valuble opportunity to continue the proggresion of our youngsters, give some of the squad players a chance to impress and improve so they can step up to first team.
A slight increase in funds.
In summary it is basically between on the one hand, beating spurs and acheiving something after almost everyone had laughed at our chances -would be a big boost to the players confidence contrasted with the probable loss of points next season, those thursday games really are a killer imo. Especially to the 'high pressure' energy sapping approach when we are at our best.
So...what's your verdict? I'd say go for fifth!

I say Liverpool don't need it. Would be a confidence boost to finish 5th but in the Europa League this season the performances have been below par. If the young players got in it next season it would do nothing for them.
Play the youngsters in the carling cup and FA cup next season and use the first team to make a real push for top 4 and try and push on from their.

I reckon we should just try and finish as high up the league as we possibly can, if it brings European football along with it then great.
It would add to the growing confidence around the club and would be another feather in the cap of the King. There's already a clamour for him to be appointed full time, and I've no doubt he will be regardless of how the rest of this season goes, but it wouldn't do him any harm to be recognised as the man who took us from relegation fodder to European football.
