The Smashing Machine - Mark Kerr Documentary
If anyone is interested in MMA and hasn't seen this documentary, it's well worth viewing and the link is below:
http://mmavideolinks.to/documentaries/95-the-smashing-machine-part-1-a-2.html
Brutally honest and shows great insight with behind the scenes footage and fight footage.
A sad tale of Kerr who was once thought as the no.1 guy and his drug addiction to pain killers, a unhealthy relationship with his then girlfriend and general life in MMA.
Well made and a great watch.

Will give that a look maybe later tonight. Is it just in 2 parts & do you have to sign up? Dont know the fighter in question but sounds interesting.

Yes just in 2 parts although website only allows you to play 72 minutes a day so will have to watch last 15 minutes or so on the next day.
Mark Kerr was a wrestler who missed out in the 1996 Olympic trials and took up MMA on the advice of someone and spent the next 3 or so years unbeaten and 'appeared' at the time to be invincible.
It shows the highs and lows within combat sport and good backstage insight and decent information about the the early days of UFC and the start of DREAM.
He was close friends with Mark Coleman from college days and he features heavily in it.

Re: The Smashing Machine - Mark Kerr Documentary
I used your link & it showed 2 videos 1 of 48 minutes which I downloaded the 1st to realplayer & then it said you've watched 72 mins etc although it did say pts 1 & 2, I'll find out when I watch it.
It does sound interesting, I imagine its a lot less glamorous with a lot less hype than what we see today. Will be interesting to see if styles have changed that much, interesting you say he was a wrestler originally.

Re: The Smashing Machine - Mark Kerr Documentary
I managed to download both parts that night, done 2nd part just after midnight so was a new day.
An interesting video, things were certainly a lot more brutal in those days, really was anything goes. Kerr was an animal, the smashing machine was an apt name for the guy, he really did seem invincable, the roids probably helped. Was mad listening to him with regards to the drugs going around in the sport, mostly from Mexico! And watching him shoot up, he admits to shooting up up to 10 times a day at his height of use! Was interesting watching him getting some physio at long last & hearing him say he used to just wipe out the pain with various pain killers, tranqs & booze & keep going. He came across as a decent enough guy, you kind of feel for the guy & get behind him. His mrs was a a bit of a caner as well, bit sad how it all ended up really. Did check out some UFC fights of him, he defo went on to long & was completely out of shape & beaten by guys you feel he would've killed back in the day at his peak, he was in awesome shape! The video seemed to cut off before the end, before his fight & the final in the Pride tournament.

Re: The Smashing Machine - Mark Kerr Documentary
Glad you liked it,
Yeah it appears to cut out the last 10 minutes or so but a good watch all the same.
Yeah it is sad to watch his fall from grace and his personnel issues.
Apparently he's doing ok now and got a decent drop outside of MMA.
After the documentary ends he actually married and had a child with the same girlfriend and not surprisingly they divorced a year after the child was born.

Re: The Smashing Machine - Mark Kerr Documentary
Have had the DVD of this for a good few years now Valero and it's a real eye opener. Kerr was a great competitor in the early UFC and Pride, always just falling short, some great behind the scene footage of pride etc aswell. Would definitely recommend to others aswell.
