Inbetweeners movie
Really excited for this coming out and a hope its gonna be as brilliant as the telly show but the question is will it be? Is it just going to be a big flaw like other films have been in the past or is going to be a fitting end for the Inbetweeners cast, thoughts?
Re: Inbetweeners movie
Looking forward to it coming out, but won't be paying to see it as I expect it to be a massive let down.

Cannot WAIT for this!
I was 1 month too old to star as an extra in Malia with the boys but they seemed really up for it. Really hope its as good as the series.

I've read the plot and I'm really looking forward to it. I think it will be a nice way to round up the 3 series. Although i'm hoping for maybe a Christmas special through the years or am I asking too much?

Re: Inbetweeners movie
i reckon the movie will consist of really funny individual scenes which will make the movie however it may not add up to much as a whole...if you see what i mean.
Like a comedian who mainly uses one liners they may be funny, however as a whole the performance isn't great.

I'm just hoping it's more like the first and second series rather than the third, as the first two were far funnier. Although I think it'll be closer to the final series. I hope that Mr. Gilbert is involved somehow as he is the funniest character of the show.

i think (according to the trailer) they have the last week of school sort of scenario as the start of the film, like leaving assembley etc so i think Mr Gilbert will be involved somehow

Completely agree there. 3rd series was nowhere near as funny as the first two IMO.

I'm worried.
Britain has an incredible history of writing outstanding 30 minute comedies, but it just doesn't have the same success with feature length film.
That's not to say there aren't any, just not that many.

Re: Inbetweeners movie
This was done a lot in the 70s. Porridge, On The Buses (x3), Rising Damp, Are You Being Served?, Up Pompeii (x3), Love Thy Neighbour, Bless This House, George & Mildred, they were all popular TV shows that crossed over into film. Not all of these were good comedies to begin with, but I think there's a big difference between the number that were as good or better in a 90 minute format, and those that were weaker.
I really want The Inbetweeners movie to work - I adore the TV version (it always has me laughing out loud) and an extra long episode without the usual 30 minute restrictions sounds brilliant. The trailer for the movie looks pretty good too. I'm just trying not to let myself get too excited about it, just in case..

Re: Inbetweeners movie
Review from Den Of Geek - it looks like it might actually be very good! - http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/1019527/the_inbetweeners_movie_review.html
Let’s straighten something out right from the start: The Inbetweeners Movie isn’t Kevin And Perry Go Large. While that misjudged sketch show off-shoot failed to inspire any emotion other than a gag reflex amongst many (although it cleaned up at the box office), The Inbetweeners Movie is a love letter to innocent teenage years, and a sweet and good-natured look back at the milestone of the first lad’s holiday.
On the surface, the story of The Inbetweeners Movie isn't actually a million miles away from Kevin And Perry. But here, it's worked into a British coming of age film fit to be mentioned in the same breath as US efforts like Superbad and American Pie. It’s crude, rude, importantly funny and essentially tragic. The important thing is, it isn’t a disaster. It’s really rather good.
And it could so easily have gone wrong. Sitcoms have a bad reputation for jumping the gun to the cinemas, only to tarnish the work they’ve built up on TV. There’s often something very un-Hollywood about British comedy shows, and so it can often feel like they’ve sold their soul to the industry. Thankfully, the characters here are exactly the same as they always were. That's a vital ingredient when dealing with a group whose entire appeal is their static, everyman lives.
The Inbetweeners Movie picks up where the show left things. Simon’s (Joe Thomas) finally going out with Carly (Emily Head), Jay’s (James Buckley) still making up stories about his many escapades, and Neil’s (Blake Harrison) snogging someone from the supermarket. Will’s (Simon Bird) still Will, which means he’s being awkward and clueless, something his father (Anthony Stewart Head) is all too keen to pick up on.
But when Carly unceremoniously dumps Simon, the boys decide to go on a traditional lad’s holiday to Malia to cheer him up, get drunk and pick up loads of girls.
What happens next could have happened on the show, were the locations, money and resources available. There’s a sense of scale to the film that has never been present on E4, but the normality of everyone involved always comes round to ground things in reality.
There’s a slow motion walk through the airport close to the film’s beginning, and it’s closely followed by the realisation from the four leads that their flight’s been delayed for seven hours and their t-shirts (‘Pussay Patrol’) are too offensive to be worn on board. And so it goes on. Whenever there’s a moment of potential poignancy or Hollywood sheen allowed to creep into the edges of the frame, it’s quickly brought crashing down into the grim reality us Brits do so well.
Things obviously don’t go to plan, and there’s an overriding sense that the boys will go their separate ways come their return home. This separation after school is something that’s been dealt with a lot, but it’s not discussed at any length during The Inbetweeners TV show. It's not touched on much in the movie, either. The four of them were always unnatural friends, and these personality clashes and tensions explode more than once across the duration of the holiday. Yet one look at Jay’s face when he realises he’s being left behind says everything lesser films might spend half an hour explaining.
The tagline for the film tells us that ‘boys will become men’, but that’s not what The Inbetweeners has ever been about. They have their little triumphs alongside the embarrassing moments and hilarious situations, and you’ll leave the cinema with a smile and comforting sense that they’d be alright in the end.
The movie is a rare beast in that, instead of riding on the show’s success for the sake of it, it rounds the story off, ruining none of the show’s charming simplicity in the process. It’s a real achievement, and a film that deserves a lot of success for not only successfully navigating a tricky path, but also delivering a thumping good comedy in the process.
Re: Inbetweeners movie
Went to see this tonight. It's quite funny, though at time the humour is literally toilet humour. Cinema was decked out with chavs who seemed to laugh at any swear word, which probably made the film seem more funny that it was. Would still recommend it if you enjoyed the TV series.

Erm, I haven't seen that many recent comedy films. Last proper one at the cinema was Paul, and I'd say Inbetweeners edges that comedy wise, but some of the acting in Inbetweeners is shocking at times.
Tamla Kari and Laura Haddock provide some nice eye-candy though.

It was the same in the series', very awkward person on and off the The Inbetweeners.
Re: Inbetweeners movie
Watched it today and found it a bit of a let down. Old recycled jokes galore and a pretty lackluster plot. You could have almost guessed what was coming and when but perhaps I am turning into a miserable old sod!
The cinema was packed out (Milton Keynes - 3.20 showing) and I'd guess I was one of about a dozen that was out his his/her teens!

Been to see it tonight, hilarious! Although the plot is poor. You can see the jokes coming from a mile off but there still funny.
Re: Inbetweeners movie
Poor ending I would say seemed quite rushed. Still hope it's not the end of the Inbetweeners though.
Re: Inbetweeners movie
I thoroughly enjoyed it. It followed on from the series perfectly imo. You could see the ending coming tho but I thought it rounded the film off well and everyone likes a happy-ish ending eh?? The t- shirts and dance floor scene was hilarious. I did think the use of the C word was uncalled for. No need really Joe Thomas plays a gawky awkward teen perfectly...

Sequel is being planned:
source - http://cinecite.co.uk/index.php/the-inbetweeners-movie-sequel
The team behind The Inbetweeners Movie may be planning a sequel, a report has suggested.
Following the success of the first movie - a spinoff from the original E4 sitcom - studio bosses have asked for a follow-up set at a wedding four years after the first film, The Mirror claims.
A production insider told the paper: "Initially we said the characters and themes had reached a natural conclusion. But the success has been too big to ignore and it makes perfect sense to give the fans what they want.
"It would be much more viable than making an extra series because the characters have moved on, so that's what we're doing."
The Inbetweeners Movie recorded the biggest live-action comedy opening ever in the UK earlier this month with takings of £20 million.
The source claimed that Will (Simon Bird), Simon (Joe Thomas) and Jay (James Buckley) will reunite to celebrate with Neil (Blake Harrison) as he gets married, adding: "The characters have all gone off and done different things but agree to hook up for his stag party and wedding."

Works perfectly for me, I didn't think this would be a one-off after the numbers they posted.
Wonder how long they will wait in reality before they release this? I'm guessing they won't actually wait four years!

Really? I genuinely thought it was funny, and it surpassed my expectations because I thought it was going to be rubbish.

Agree Completely with TipToes, what a great way to tarnish the brilliant work done by the 3 Series!
Terrible Plot, Terrible Acting, Cheap laughs, and something about James Buckleys face worries me, looks a complete smackhead!

I only counted the word clunge once in the film.
Re: Inbetweeners movie
Terrific series and terrific film but I don't see how a 2nd movie would work. There's been alot of character changes in the film and feel a prequel wouldn't have the same feel as the series and movie. Can see it being alot like American Pie: The wedding.
Anyone see Chickens the other day on Channel 4? Joe Thomas played almost the same character as he does in The Inbetweeners. He's not only a awkward person in the inbetweeners he seems very shy and awkward person off set.

Re: Inbetweeners movie
Decent movie which due to the length of a feature film felt a little disjointed at times compared to the short tv episodes. I loved all 3 seasons of the tv series including the third which in many ways I though was the best of the them all.
The film suffered from a bad ending that tried to wrap everything up in a nice happy bubble which the tv series never tried to do either during a individual episode or as a overall arc. It was a great premise and it many ways it worked as well as the tv series with playing of the awkward teenage moments and then exaggerating them to new proportions.
What didn't work was the badly hacked attempt of doing a rounded of happy ending where everyones happy and the soppy love scenarios that they married each character up with. Thing was it looked initially that these girl mirrors for the male cast would work well and offer some great moments but as the story wore on they became poor plot devices to have the happy ending they so clearly wanted. It would have been better if some of the romances worked and others didn't but by making all the girls friends that idea was always going to be hard to get of the ground from the start.
Another effort years later could work but they need to sort out their story lines though regardless it will be a hit in terms of money generated.

Re: Inbetweeners movie
Jay getting with the fat bird I think ruined the portrayal of his character. In a way I liked the at times nasty Jay. I struggle to see what the writers now do with Jay if a prequel is decided.
Re: Inbetweeners movie
Actually I thought she was goregous. And (in the series at least) I don't think he was nasty Jay, just boaster and liar which is why he was funny.
