Expect Lloyd to land there then.

I'm gonna defend the Jags here. They'll be my favourite AFC team for the London games.

The proof is in the pudding. Shahid Khan, a very smart businessman, wanted him while the coaching staff didnt.

Ouch. He was playing well early on in the season. Maybe he picked up an injury?

If I had to guess, JPP always relied upon his immense physical attributes, and his technique is pretty so so.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
I would guess that far more focus has been put on him this year, and he as struggled.
I suppose the big debate in Tampa is whether to keep Freeman or not. He has improved in some areas (deep ball accuracy) but when the line has been dodgy he has crumbled and reverted back to some of his old problems in staring down receivers. Personally I think he should be kept, his deal runs for another year, you then find out whether he deserves to stay about midway or so through next year. He is certainly far better than the alternatives Buc fans are putting up (Cousins,Mallett, Flynn and Tebow)

Freeman should be kept for sure, he has the talent, just loses it mentally sometimes.

Jags should get Geno Smith from the draft. If they get Tebow they've gotta get the system to suit him and it's not really worth it

Nobody is starting Tim Tebow at QB. Everybody stop thinking this.

Best NFL gag I saw this week:
Mark Sanchez tried to throw a tantrum after being told he wasn't starting week 16, but it was intercepted.

Few candidates for the Week 17 Flex:
Ravens @ Bengals
If Ravens lose and Bengals win this week, winner takes the AFC North, and likely hosts Indy, while loser goes to New England/Denver
Cowboys @ Redskins
Winner determines winner of NFC East if both match the Giants result this weekend.
Packers @ Vikings
A.D going for the record while Vikes have to win?

The way the Bucs play he is never going to be a 70% passer, he can be something akin to Eli Manning, needs other guys to help him out.

Aye, but its hard to entrust the offense to him if you dont know which QB is going to turn up quarter by quarter. His career so far has been a model of inconsistency

I'd agree to an extent, although last season is a write off really. His struggles have come with our O-Line being decimated and our defence being absolutely pathetic, bar the Saints game he hasn't been too woeful.

He wasn't great no, picked it up in the second, our defence is doing him no favours to put it mildly, I wouldn't give up on the guy yet, see next year. He has done things this year that I don't think many Quarterbacks in the league can do.

The touchdown and 2 point pass in particular here:
This video shows when Freeman can be amazing and then what happens when he plays awful.

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
I think the loss of Carl Nicks is a huge factor in Freeman's decline. He seems to feel under pressure when he actually isn't, which is obviously a problem, one that maybe the loss of Nicks is causing.
Yes the offence was good for the first couple of weeks when he first was out, but that was mainly down to Martin being able to run well freeing up the passing game. Now with Martin struggling and the O-line struggling, Freeman doesn't seem to be doing as well.
But I think you gotta keep him. Boys got talent

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
Martin is struggling mainly because of the O-line but our defense's inability to defend against a ghost is also a problem. Bucs have to abandon the run early as they are behind (same happened last year with Blount)
I also think Mike Vick can be pretty good in the right environement, he seemed to be conditioned to be a pocket passer and Philly seemed to take away his biggest asset, his legs. That's what it seemes to me anyway. I wish him luck.

I don't think Vick has got much of a future other than a backup in the league. Man has taken too many beatings
Kirk Cousins is well on the way to being Matt Flynn V2. However with the seemingly poor QB class this year someone might trade for him and give him a shot (I'm looking at you Kansas)

Nobodys trading a 2nd for Cousins. Yates won a playoff game and there wasnt significant interest in him.

He took hits yes, but because he refuses to slide he'd take them either way.
Teams target him intentionally because they know he can be injured easily also. RG3 will get the same treatment I suspect

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
I don't think the Redskins will be interested in trading Cousins any time soon to be honest. To do so, defeats the purpose of drafting him in the first place which was to ensure that there was a good back up to RG3 should he either not work as hoped for or miss playing time because of injury. The latter is always a big risk for a mobile QB. Down the line, I'm sure they will look to trade him, but he's staying in DC for 3 years minimum unless someone offers us something silly. With the punishment that RG3 takes, I don't think the Redskins ever want to be in a situation where someone like Rex Grossman or John Beck is just one play from being in the game!

While talking about QBs, how many years do people think Tom Brady has left starting at NE? When should we start thinking about a replacement?

Judging by his play this season I'd say 3/4 years left at least. Ages to think about a replacement, Mallett won't be it I doubt

The Bills have agreed a new lease in Buffalo for 10 years with hefty relocation penalty. Doesn't really alleviate the concerns when Ralph kicks the bucket though.

Jennings I think might end up in Minnesota. Wild guess
Cobb definately can, and has been doing so for a while this season with both Nelson and Jennings injured

I've not been paying attention to how Mallett is progressing in NE. He was someone I was hoping the Redskins might have picked up in the draft last year after he cleared the 1st round. Was disappointed when we didn't take a chance on him. Had read some decent stuff on him prior to the draft and obviously some concerning stuff as well. What's the chat on how he's coming along and developing? What's the chances of him starting somewhere for someone one day if it's not going to be in New England?

Re: Ongoing NFL discussion thread
How about Jennings for Dallas??? It's the sort of splash that Jerry would love to make. Dez has taken a big step forward this season but after him they're getting kinda thing at WR. Austin is good.... when he's fit..... which isn't very often these days. It seems that they're not going to be able to rely on Austin to play a full season anymore. After those two, there's a big drop off.

Apparantly the organisation don't think he is going to be the answer when Brady retires. Which says a lot I think. (Albert Breer said it on twitter a while back)

There is a strong possibility that Ed Reed could become a free agent this season.
Ravens haven't struck a deal with Flacco yet and if they don't they'll use the tag on him leaving Reed to free agency

I wouldn't think they give Flacco the tag, Tyrod Taylor has a good bit of upside and I wouldn't think they would be averse to taking a draft pick on somebody. Or just extend Flacco.

Tagging Flacco doesn't mean that Reed will leave. I see Reed as one of those players who want to spend their whole career in one place so don't see him leaving even if doesn't get tagged.Olly wrote:There is a strong possibility that Ed Reed could become a free agent this season.
