Merry Christmas To you all (but apologies for my emotions)
Edited
Many thanks for all the kind words.
I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year. Try and treat others with the respect you would like shown back to you. Enjoy your rugby taking the good and the bad times with equal equanimity. And most of all, find the time to look after those you love.

Oh Man.
Hope she makes a full recovery.
I have 3 daughters myself and I already feel guilty about spending time at rugby.
I avoid threads with all the arguing on them as, well they are just boring.
Happy Christmas and I hope next Christmas you can look back at how far your daughter has come.

Don't be too hard on yourself. As long as you are there when they need you is the most important thing, they need space to grow as well. Best wishes to you & your loved ones. A full & speedy recovery to your daughter

The feeling of helplessness following an accident is incredibly tough. My prayers are with you and your family.
I had a friend in a serious road accident last year. It's a slow recovery (his coma was of a similar time scale). He's back to his best now though. Sadly a moment of someone else's stupidity can take months to undo.

I'm really sorry to hear of your family's plight. I do however thank you for prompting me to hug and take a little more interest in what my three kids are doing and tell them how much I love them. I wish you a better 2013 than the end to your 2012.
I can't imagine what your daughters friends family are having to endure.

Re: Merry Christmas To you all (but apologies for my emotions)
oh LT So sorry to hear about your last 10 days. That is horrific news, I wish your daughter and her friend strength and hoping things are now on the up for you and yours. Absolutely tragic.
In the bigger picture Rugby is only a ball sport, and your season ticket is there to be enjoyed when you want to, not as a millstone around your neck if it's beginning to feel so. Family dwarfs both, and yours need you. I hope they make a speedy recovery, and the driver is prosecuted to the full extent of the law.
The first thing isn't even worth mentioning in the same post, it is merely internet bickering and should be taken with a mountain of salt.

Tiger mate, all the best to you and yours. The worst time of year for anything of this sort to happen... I can only hope that somehow the driver being prosecuted to the full extent of the law can make up for such a bloody awful thing happening...

Am gutted for you LT!!!
Now is the time to truly look on the positive side and focus on what you have and not what you might have lost.
I'm sure no words can help by any of us but as you'll know we're all wishing you and your family the best at such a tragic time.

Re: Merry Christmas To you all (but apologies for my emotions)
LT, so sorry to here about what must seem to be the end of the world as you knew it.
Whatever anyone says will seem trite and cliched, but be patient they are only trying to help.
Your post reminded me of the awful time when my daughter was diagnosed with cancer. That is a place I never want to go again. Mrs Pip and I thought our world had ended but we did get through as will you and your family.
You also reminded me of a friend who propped at my club. His wife died suddenly and left him totally bereft. His first reaction was to throw himself 24-7 into being at home with his kids. A couple of years later he confided in me that the normality and consistency that the rugby club provided gave him the stability to keep going. What i'm trying to say is whatever gets you and yours through this is valid and I know you will find it. God bless. Jim

Re: Merry Christmas To you all (but apologies for my emotions)
LT,
Without question, you have our very best wishes and, were it possible, a much better means of expressing how we all feel. From my family to yours and to the family of your daughter's freind. And, I know, from all of us here in the peculiar world of internet discussion.
It feels very odd at times read people's personalities through our written words, especially as most are brief and focused on the Rugby which we care so much about. But one thing is clear: This is a damn fine group and I know everyone here, if they could, would want to do so much more.
Not so long ago I shared some personal experiences during my Army service. I later apologised for combining the personal with the rugby. Everyone who responded either in the open forum or by pm told me, in essence, no worries, I was amongst friends. The same holds true here. If you need anything, or need to vent, this is a good place with a good group.
In the meantime, I am in London for a few more days with my dad who is in Royal Brompton hospital. Some of the absolute best docs in the world work at Royal London. But if you need anything, an opinion, or even a pint or a coffee, please let me know (even if you are a Tigers fan). Otherwise, just keep giving your daughter the hugs she deserves and take your strength from knowing that's the best medicine for both of you.

Like everyone else, my thoughts are with you LT.
It's not much comfort, I know, but it's times like this that we discover what's really important, and what we're really made of.
In the grand scheme of things, rugby isn't even on the second page in the grand list of what really matters in life.

London Tiger
Just a couple of things:
I too am the father of a daughter, and I respect/know the powerful purpose that comes from the love of this very special relationship, all our hearts are with you.
The people we get to know through rugby become longlasting friends and will do anything to help us when "situations" arise, I am 10,000 miles away and can not offer much in the way of assistance apart from strongly suggest that you take up the offers of doctor Grey an Hugehandoff, even if only for a chat.

She is doing well thanks, kids are so resilient.
Still in hospital - but no surprise there. The upper body injuries are healed and she has a wheelchair for getting around in - or whizzing around. She was almost disappointed that she does not qualify for the paralympics
She was disappointed that she was unable to do her flute solo at the Christmas concert, and is missing her schoolfriends - but I am taking a group to visit her tomorrow.
