this is an article from Dave Walder about rules in Japan.

Some like the tucking in of shirts and socks just seems to be like the japanese thing to do as they usually look professional and well dressed.

I can understand the water breaks, as often it is an unoffical team talk, and to be fair its not like a trip to the side lines is that bad.

But rules like not training on the pitch and water only to drink seem a bit silly.

What are your thoughts or other odd rules that leagues have that aren't done anywhere else.

And I'll say rotation so that it is out of the way boxing

It's more a common sense thing, but Super XV warmup games are often played as 4 20-minute quarters, generally to allow for player hydration in what is the hottest time of the year down under

That seems to be what they are doing in Japan. as it mentions one offical water break per half eg. lets have a five min break and take in water.

Saw a few interviews with Shane Williams on scrum v. He was saying that match day in Japan is a very family orientated thing with picnic and BBQ after the game, but before the game the players serve drinks and popcorn etc. from the stalls to the fans before they take their seats!

I guess that's a legacy of the "company team" thing - in amateur days all of the players worked for the company in their day job (admittedly some of them didn't have to work too hard Whistle )

You might have noticed in Wales recently that the whole match has had rather too much water involved...!

Yeah, I was going to add something similar. As the clubs are sponsored by big business (Shane's team is Mitsubishi) the fans tend to be made up of workers and their families, like an end of week day out paid for by the company. The players then do their bit to pay back the sponsors by getting involved and lending a hand on match day. It looked really good, lovely weather, nice atmosphere and family vibe. Some of the players and family stayed for a picnic on the field next to the pitch after the game and it looked really chilled out. Wish the rugby was like that over here sometimes, rather than fans freezing our n*ts off in the rain and hail, and then legging it to the warmth of the pub or home after the game, with no player interaction!
