AO Seedings.
Bit basic this. But with the Joker at one and Murray at three, surely the two will kill each other in the semis and RF will pick up the pieces?
Tell me if I'm wrong, please.

Re: AO Seedings.
you mean like last year? oh wait...
also there's of course no guarantee Murray and Djokovic will be in the same half (ooo it's been a while since our last conspiracy theory hasn't it?). As a Murray fan, I can honestly say I couldn't care less about who's in whose half of the draw, as he'll probably have to beat both of them to win anyway...

Re: AO Seedings.
Baker and Ward have won their opening qualifying rounds.
I wish Baker would get off his arse and off the futures/challenger tour and try and qualify for some ATP events!

Re: AO Seedings.
That’s something I’ve often thought, though maybe haven’t been able to word it as articulately as you. Ward tries his luck at the smaller ATP events and occasionally manages to get through
I assume Baker reckons that his potential earnings and ranking points are higher playing in Challengers as opposed to ATP given that he is likely to progress further and presumably assesses (correctly I think) that he is more than likely to be dumped in the first round of qualifying. Ward is a stronger player and more capable of competing at the higher level

Re: AO Seedings.
Baker similar to Goodall plays the percentage you could say and stays closer to the events in the UK. Obviously they don't get anywhere near the sponsorships of say Murray, but depending whether the LTA provide them with any funding. I guess for them the thought of having to qualify for the 250/500 events presents too much in the way of risk with the schedule and the field in those events is a turn off.
Their ages go against them too. It is a shame Ward never managed to build on his 2011 Queens herorics.

Murray doesn't care, he'd expect to play both.
Federer and Djokovic will certainly mind.

Re: AO Seedings.
I think Murray would rather Federer in the semi.
Not because he has any more or less chance against him, but because every time he plays Novak it seems to be a long epic decided by a couple of points.
His matches against Roger have always been a bit quicker, win or lose. Obviously you'd rather the long draining match as the last one rather than the penultimate one.

I would say Murray is 75% certain to face Djokovic in the semis should they both get that far. The draw usually pairs No.1 seed V No.3 seed and No.2 seed V No.4 seed. If I am not mistaken.

It's random, regardless of patterns that may temporarily emerge.

Yes JHM but No.1 seed NEVER gets drawn against No.2 seed in the semis. Apart from that is is random but call me psychic but I see Murray getting Djokovic and Federer getting Ferrer if the top four seeds get that far.

Yes, Murray would definitely prefer Fed in the semi-final. You'd have thought that there must be a small psychological advantage in facing Djokovic in another final as well, given the US Open result.

I don't think I'd ever call anyone psychic for simply getting a 50/50 pick correct.

Fine, as long as you don't claim that you almost got it right if Murray draws Federer.

Speaking of socal, has he gone for good or will he start posting again with the new season? He adds certain flavor to the forum and it would be a shame to lose that.

Re: AO Seedings.
These comments about the potential SF's always crease me up
Can people understand it's random i.e. Seeds 1 and 3 could have met in the last 50 SF's - but would still only have a 50/50 chance of it occuring next time

Banbrotam if you wish to look at it another way - in all the time following Andy Murray I have come to expect a chronic draw in the semis. That is why I have that gut feeling it will be Novak Djokovic in the semi should both get there. And yes I do realise the draw is random by the way thanks.

Let's hope he stays (or returns). He was a character who added color to the forum.HM Murdoch wrote:I believe he left for good. Well if you had read further into the thread you would have seen I said it was more akin to a hunch/gut feeling. Okay so my guts were playing up yesterday and were not up to usual predictory standards. I apologise.
