Golden oldie XI
just for a laugh, what would be your current test XI only including players who are aged 30 and above...
MINE
1.Graeme Smith (c)
2.Chris Gayle
3.Brendon McCullum
4.Jacques Kallis
5.Kevin Pietersen
6.Shiv Chanderpaul
7.Matt Prior (wk)
8.Graeme Swann
9.James Anderson
10.Rangana Herath
11.Chris Martin
See the golden oldies could still kick some arse!!

Re: Golden oldie XI
This XI has lost a few stalwarts of late.
Michael Clarke should play (I assume you didn't realise he was 30+). I'd then rather have Bell, Sangakkara or Trott (probably Bell) than McCullum.
So even without Hussey, and with Sachin fading, you have a very strong batting line-up and plenty to spare.
The bowling is a bit more difficult. But surely Ajmal should get in.
There aren't many 30+ seamers around but we can probably do better than Martin, who has probably played his last Test. When fit Ryan Harris would get in, but sadly he isn't fit that often. So Mitchell Johnson it is...
Also, I think a few of these would take issue with 'golden oldie'! 30 is still very much in a batsman's prime, towards the end of a seamers prime and not even at the prime yet for a spinner.

CF - echoing Shelsey's final sentence, one day - if you're lucky - you might just think that 30 is incredibly young!

Re: Golden oldie XI
Good idea for the thread - but wrong title!!
"Golden oldie" would be a minimum of 37 or 38 batsman and spinner; 35 for a faster bowler.

Yousuf and Razzaq dont get in my side because they dont play tests any more..
watson dosent get in, because Kallis is the all-rounder in my side and Kallis is so much beter than watson!

Watson is good enough to play as a specialist batsman as he was born to play cricket like Ian Botham was for England up until 1981!
