Who's going to win?
Tigers vs Toulouse
First topic message reminder :
So, who's going to win?
Winner takes all game, should be a great game. My only worry is that we're due a fair amount of snow Friday/Saturday and as you may of noticed, it's a bit nippy outside. Hopefully the game won't be called off.
On a side note, does anyone know if 2nd place in this group are likely to get through as one of the best runners up?
EDIT: How rude of me, i forgot to add my own prediction! I'm going for the Tigers by 7.

Little bit of snow coming down but yesterday was fine so roads are fairly clear, pavements are lethal. Game will go ahead.
Come on Tigers.

Should suit tigers forwards based game better ... but it's not going to be easy or pretty. Not a great day for flood to show hestablished back either

Re: Tigers vs Toulouse
It's exactly the game Flood needs. He can show his experience by putting Tigers in the right areas and keeping to score board ticking over. Just like Hodgson and Farrell have for Sarries.
Tolouse like their off the cuff stuff but they have a 10 and a 12 with big boots and a heavy weight pack of their own. It's going to be a real arm wrestle.

Flood needs to have a good game today if he wants to reclaim his England shirt that is. he did not look to good the other week, yes i know he has been injured. But he need to show he is back to his best.

Re: Tigers vs Toulouse
Agreed on that. His form has been ropey other than against LI a couple of weeks back. Farrell played at 13 and missed a couple of kicks at goal but provided a perfectly weighted cross field kick for Ashton's second score. Not sure where that moves the 10 debate. Farrell has some credit in tge bank from the NZ game thoygh. Flood needs to be the midfield general today, there's no Murphy to help him out so a lot is riding on him doing the business.

Snow is bad now, can't see the ball or line markings now, we need an orange ball and some pink lines!

Clancy's interpretation is very different to what would you'd see in the AP. Tigers need to adapt quickly to that. Currently we're getting nothing from him.

Seems to be a common theme - there comes the warning. Its partly a product of the different style played I think

Could well be. Tigers can do nothing but listen, learn and adapt. Would be nice if he'd actually call the not straights at the lineout though.

9-0 at half time. Not too bad for Tigers.

A gripping game. Picamoles held up over the line by Ben Youngs. Morris knocks on over the line with Clerc's ankle proving crucial. Thompstone bursting through but knocking on was another missed try.

Tigers are clinging on but after the try tolouse seem to be really upping the pressure.

Re: Tigers vs Toulouse
Treviso got a penalty try for a collapsed maul over 10m out. Tolouse had three attempts to drag one down and do so 5m out and nothing is given. Clancy is giving us nout.
Flood off for deliberate knock on. No complaints about that one.

Flood getting charged down too much. Having a mixed old game him. Off now anyway with a yellow. Worrying times for tigers as tolouse have a big advantage now.

I've been surprised how poor they have been of late by their standards, not the controlled tigers you normally expect.nathan wrote:Tigers first up tackling rubbish as usual.

Toulose have played by far the best rugby but so far have not taken their chances. Tigers have done what they needed

Well that is impressive from tigers. He'll of a tough game but they held on well.
Toulon will be a heck of a challenge for them but at least they got there.

Hopefully that will kick start the tigers. They usually start to hit a bit form this time of the year.

Re: Tigers vs Toulouse
Clancy makes up for a string of dodgey decisions against Tigers by giving one to them. Calling the game for a knock on and playing no advantage to Tolouse.
Tigers were pretty average there and will need the likes of Croft, Manu and Murphy back for the game vs Toulon. Only having one kicker in the backline and a lack of experience in the back three didn't help us today. Tolouse were only in that game because we gifted them a try. Their kickers could not cope with the conditions and missed all four of their kicks, Flood kicked three from four including one from his own half.
Louis Deacon given MOM. From me Ben Youngs was the man of the match he was a class apart and put his team in the right areas of the pitch all day.
Manu failed a late fitness test. Not surprising given his injury vs the Ospreys. Losing Mafi early hurt us as well.

correct in law. game cannot end on a penalty, can end on knock on. Toulouse did not have the ball so no advantage was possible

Re: Tigers vs Toulouse
No but if he'd allowed play to go on Youngs was isolated and Tolouse could have forced a penalty for holding on. Tolouse would have gained an advantage. Maybe Clancy realised a bit late that Tolouse were trying the Saints trick of standing up and spinning with both flankers bound by finger tips and really should have given a Tigers penalty.

Been reading in other places that Toulouse refused to shake hands and just walked down the tunnel. Anyone know if there's any truth in that?

Re: Tigers vs Toulouse
Be very disappointed if that's the case Nathan. There was some out breaks of fistycuffs in the game but nothing serious. Don't like to see unsporting stuff though I understand if they wanted to escape the conditions.

Re: Tigers vs Toulouse
Well done Tigers you benefited for two weeks on the trot form team unable to land their kicks, hardly world beaters.
Also beyond a load of fatties throwing themselves head first in to every ruck and Youngs box kick what do the Tigers actually bring?

Re: Tigers vs Toulouse
Tigers? I don't like them but praise where its due. Never stopped trying, controlled territory as well as they could against a team who could make yards agaisnt them ball in hand and made few mistakes.
Uninspiring but if toulouse could not score their chances then they cannot blame anyone but themselves
