Munster v Racing
First topic message reminder :
Well it comes down to the wire as it always does with Munster. The heart is still pounding after watching the Leinster Chiefs match. A complete roller coaster where it looked like Leinster would score a bucket loads of tries but in fairness somehow dug in and really put it up to Leinster right up until the end. Credit and respect.
Chiefs are my favourite non Irish team
Now its over to Munster. BP win all but guarantees QF spot (barring mad result in Tigers match) and in the process knock Leinster out. If we cant get this BP we have no place in the QFs. If we do, the young talent we have coming through can only benefit from playing at this top level.
So there you have it no pressure them.
COME ON MUNSTER - TO THE BRAVE AND THE FAITHFUL

With ROG we don't have an attack, that might explain why we look pretty comfortable with Keatley there, the backs actually look like they are playing for him.

And Quins will humiliate them in that case. Even though it is a while away they could have POC back.

Make that 40. So definitely just Munster and ulster, both away.

I hope Penney tells the IRFU where to go, if people really can't realize ROG is past it with how are backs are playing here I will lose it.
Tries scored with Keatley at 10: 9
Tries scored with ROG at 10: 5 (one from an intercept and another from a Penalty try)

ROG should never play for Munster in a HCup game again, Keatley is looking brilliant

Yes, but DK hasn't got Keatley in his squad and I think he would be a better back-up to Sexton.

Maybe we can get whoever is poisoning Poite to give ROG a dose?
I don't mind Madigan being the back up or Jackson but if it is ROG then it shows that Deccie has barely watched a game of rugby in the last year.

I think that Madigan is still ahead of Keatley Kia but he is certainly deserving of a place in the squad over ROG.

Varley is so stupid at the breakdown, he might win penalties every 6th or 7th time, but the other 5 will result in a penalty against him.

Thought that was a try but ah well. Fair play to Racing for their heart. Munster have seen a chink of light on how they can play, they need to replicate that for the rest of the season

Short by an inch but rolled slightly onto the line, double movement my arrrse!
He didn't make a 2nd movement his first wasn't completed until it touched the line, compare that to Tuilagi V aus taking the tackle 5 metres short then thrusting himself to the line... poopi1!

I would nearly fly home for that, it would be worth it to go to the game with my Granddad and see the look on his face as we wipe the floor with them. Although they might have POC back by then which wouldn't be good.

Re: Munster v Racing
I think this was an important win for a new generation of Munster players - it was crucial that they took up the mantel of the teams who went before them and won this without their totemic players such POC and ROG.

If ROG doesn't start I think it's doable, if ROG starts then we might as well not turn up.
KIA now way would we have won that match with ROG we don't have a backline with him, he has been rubbish for over a year and was overrated in my opinion

Re: Munster v Racing
I agree absolutely Thom - I was sooooooooo pleased when ROG was cited and banned (!) because I really wanted Keatley to play. I am really addressing the media who kept going on and on and on about those players being absent etc etc.
This is a new generation of Munster players, they have not been through the cauldron of the years of heartache when Munster got into two finals and then won in the third. And because of that I think they needed to show that they too had the character to win a specific game with a BP and now people can stop talking about the "miracle match" and let this team create their own history.

Thanks Leinster - a very generous comment. Just as we supported you in 09 and 11 (I will admit to having been conflicted as to which team to cheer for in 2012 .

Munster have made it through? Surprised at that. They won't be the Irish team to make it to the final IMO.

Its not that surprising. They threw the first game against Racing Metro away and away to Saracens they only lost a kicking contest in miserable conditions.
Harlequins might be favourites but they will still need to play well against Munster who could have POC and maybe Cj Stander back by then.

I hope POC is back for you, that would be a real boost. If it's Quins you are facing then you have a chance, if you were facing a French team I think your chances would be slim.

Good summary Pete - some really good performances by the young guns. Yes Racing were dreadful but you still have to do your stuff. Delighted to be still alive.

Nothing to lose with a young team. Paulie may be back and CJ will add pace to the back row. Anything is possible but just happy to be still involved as it will give the young players great experience. Munster are rebuilding and it can only be good to be involved.

It's not fair that Quins and Clermont can't both make it to the final with their six wins each, but c'est la vie hey!

Re: Munster v Racing
Great win today . However lets put things into a little perspective. This was against a 14 man Racing second string side. Keatley played well but wasnt exactly the reason for the winning of the game. Of the half backs Murray was excellent. Unfortunately a big pressure game can cause Keatley to disappear in a game badly.
I actually hope he kicks on from this and takes over the No.10 but to be honest I dont trust him and find him too flakey under pressure.

He looked quality with the few touch he got, and was strong in defence. I have no doubts he is going to be the real deal.

Re: Munster v Racing
Well done Munster. Showed that the transition is up and running now. Without ROG. Lets be honest, even though they are going through a Changing of the Guard, no one wants to meet Munster in a HC knockout. They know what it takes to win big games. The New Munster started to show up this weekend. Not great opposition, but they were well dispatched.
Huge test for Quins.
Believe.

Re: Munster v Racing
Big match for both Munster and Quins at the Stoop. One I think Quins should win but not easy by any stretch of the imagination. If Munster play ROG, they will struggle, he stops you using your backs and Munster are no longer as adept as they once were at playing the Sarries style that Quins struggle against, and i'll back Evans vs ROG in a kicking duel (points or tactical) though that in itself could be a fascinating match up. Best of luck Munster, see you chaps at the Stoop soon!

France is the hardest place to go and win. But if you are the home side, a visit from an Irish province should be the most feared I reckon
