In the long run Villa will look at that game as a point gained. Hopefully.

Well you would have taken a point at the start of the day if you're Villa.
But losing a 2 goal lead late isn't good for confidence

Back-to-back wins........absolutely massive results. Moussa Sissoko is more than a prospect. Moussa Sissoko is a beast, what a signing for £2.5m. 3 points off Stoke in 10th. What a turnaround.

Anybody still think QPR have a chance of survival now? 6 points off safety and running out of games.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 3
Taking nothing away from Newcastle and Sissikho but cisse should have been sent off. Disgraceful from him.
Back to sissokho he has been a beast for years, how he went to Newcastle and not a bigger club is beyond me

I thought QPR were woeful today, offensively they had no idea whatsoever. Basically if Taarabt does not produce then QPR don't win. Mackie is a shocking striking option, hard work is all well and good but you've got to be able to score goals which he can't produce. Remy has alot of work to do to save QPR. Samba is a massive signing and they look more solid at the back but I would still say they are clear favourites to get relegated.
Think if Newcastle can continue this form until the end of the season it would not surprise me to see them finish easily top 10, anything higher would be unlikely but it would be a great turnaround and something to build on for next season. Cabaye, Tiote & Sissoko is a mouthwatering prospect.

QPR's tactic today seemed to be win set pieces in the opposition half and lump it into Samba and hope for the best! Of course we obliged by giving away silly free kicks...
QPR are all but gone for me. Wigan and Reading to join them imo

How he's survived at United this long I don't know. Distinctly average.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 3
I have stronger adjectives than "average" for him
Fulham haven't offered much up front but when they have they've looked incredibly dangerous plus they've been excellent at the back. They're definitely worth a point.

It's a blessing in disguise for Fulham that Berbatov isn't playing. Without him they have pace up front in Rodallega and Ruiz which can really hurt the Utd back 4 whereas with Berbatov they have skill and trickery but I'd expect the Utd back 4 to deal with that. They're not out of it yet.

Kristian Jack @KristianJack
Minutes at which Aston Villa have been leading in last 3 away games: 93rd, 82nd, 92nd. Drew them all. #avfc
It's in the mindset. At Norwich when we got up we always seemed to score last minute goals when we needed to. Villa are currently conceding them when they don't need to

10 points clear now United, if City stuff up against Liverpool tomorrow (which they shouldn't) then it may be that the Title Race is over.

I think they will slip up tomorrow. You want your best defender v Suarez (and Sturridge) but with Kompany out injured and Toure away this is a massive chance for Liverpool to get 3 points against them. The main challenge for Liverpool will be keeping out the City strikers.

Oh I should also add that de Gea played well today, especially that save from Ruiz which he tipped onto the post. However, he almost palmed one right out to Ruiz to tap in. He needs to start putting them to the side.

Exactly, been saying that for months. Huge opportunity missed by Ashley and he knows it was a fundamental mistake not capitalising on our great season and attracting more high profile players to the squad. The players then became complacent, injuries too their toll and the Europa League killed us. If we had these five players back in August, who knows where we might be right now.
I'm sure Ashley is already thinking down the line about what he might be able to get for a player like Sissoko in 18 months time. That's how this club works unfortunately and the cycle will continue while Carr continues to succeed. Sissoko destroyed Chelsea today, truly brilliant performance.
As for De Gea, I think he's been brilliant this season. I can't believe the criticism the lad is getting this season. He's a quite brilliant shot stopper and has the potential to be world class. Actually annoys me hearing commentators bringing up slight errors after world class saves. The Southampton goal was entirely Carrick's fault with an appaling control and horror back pass, yet De Gea get's slaughtered......shocking.

With the battle for fourth this year being so wide open with the real lack of a team going and grabbing it you really do think Newcastle have missed a huge opportunity last summer in not pushing for it this season.
Almost like a written off season right when not needed

A workmate of mine is adamant that Liverpool will be contesting fourth come the end of the season. Now this may well be optimism at it's finest but the way this season is going is it really beyond the realms of possibility?

Can someone tell me what Tony Pulis sees there for it to be offside?
And does he not see his players around the linesman as well as the Arsenal players?

I think the next Spurs v Chelsea game will dictate the final order but I can't see past Utd, City, Spurs/Chelsea and Chelsea/Spurs in the top 4. Arsenal are too mercurial (great word), Everton don't have the depth but could make a challenge if everyone stays fit and Liverpool have taken too long to play well after a slow start.

Poor Arsenal. Lahm and 2 of Robben/Ribery/Shaqiri/Muller v Santos? Pray for Santos. And that's just one position they'll hurt Arsenal....
(But Arsenal can get goals against their defence so it will be a reasonably close tie).
