I think QPR barring a miracle are gone, Reading and Wigan to join them imo. Villa vs Wigan final day of the season at the DW is looking to be a decider and a heck of a game!!!
Huge win for us today and a huge loss for Everton. We should be safe now (barring a massive drop in form) and Everton seem to have reversed there usual end of season form with there usual start of season form!
That game has "panning to fan bawling their eyes out" written all over it.
Shades of Sheff Utd v Wigan in 07.
I know I shouldn't but I find something funny about that happening.
Not the actual players crying though. In fact, if i see any player crying after a bad loss, I'm glad they're showing they care. A la Chabal in the 2007 RWC.
I've only ever cried once after a football match. 1989 when Arsenal did us 2-0 to take the title. It was a Friday night and my olds went out for the night leaving me with my Man Utd loving cousin. My god did she rub it in, the byatch! The scars never go away, ever!
To be fair she probably thought the chance to wind you up was "up for grabs now!"
She still mentions it now Dave. I'm still waiting for 'Pool to pip Utd for the title. Ain't quite happening is it?

I'd love to see Taarabt and Berbatov in the same team. Imagine the shift those 2 would put in!

It's extraordinary that Wigan have lasted this long in the Premier really.

I like Wigan under Martinez, they try and play good football and in my opinion quite clearly a good manager. They have earned their spot in the Premier League each year, they just need to be consistent.
I cried when Liverpool went 3-0 down in the Champions League final to AC Milan. I actually turned the TV off and was going to stop watching, only for my family to say that I should watch the rest.

I wouldn't cry after any football match. Last season on the final day after the infamous "AguerOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!" what did I do? I laughed. Which is either a sign of coping well with disappointment or psychopathy.

I was back living at home at the time of that final and watched it with my parents. At half time I told them I'd pack my bags and leave home if we turned it around and won! They were happier than me after the shoot-out.

It wasn't happiness I was feeling. It's a strange ironic feeling, like you have when 11/12 teams on your accumulator win and the 12th team can only draw.

There'll never be a penalty taker like Le Tiss again. Something like 26 out of 27. Be interesting to know how many Rooney and Gerrard have missed.

Martinez will survive and leave this summer and do marvelously, how on earth had he got kone to sign for them, like getting messi go sign for Liverpool!
When you think about the players they have lost in his reign its tremendous.
As for penalty takers the king fluffed one wide otherwise he would be 100%

Gerrard actually has a really good penalty converting rate, I know it was somewhere in the 90th percentile about a year ago, I'm not sure how much of an effect the miss against West Brom affected that.
Rooney on the other hand has a pretty poor penalty record I believe.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 3
After 25 years of being in the top flight, our great club( f off u blues, baggies etc who may want to abuse us). Aston Villa' time in the top flight is coming to an end.
Its sad to be typing this but i' m not going to hide.
I've been up to Birmingham to see us play and to a fair few away games this season.
The only game I have seen us win is the second leg at home to Bradford, and that ment f all to us.
Fair play to them and good luck today, I wont be watching, Ireland rugby to watch.
Lambert has to go, he has no idea.
Wasnt over the moon when he was appointed.
What does he do to motivated players, f all.
How do we continue to concide goals from set pieces from a start.
WHAT IS GOING ON IN THE TRAINING sesions.
We may get a good price for our star player and thankyou Christian. U have been the stand out player in our failing squad.
Whoever you go to english prem next season I for 1 will chant your name in the lower holte.
Whatever people think of Villa, it hurts me, the other Villa fans to see where we are. The former players whose names we sing in the holte.
Notably PAUL McGRATH.
God bless u Paul, Bosnich, Houghton, Townsend, Richardson, Staunton, Saunders, Atkinson, Yorke, Teale, Spink, Laursen, Mellberg.
To name a few greats to have come and ,gone.
We will sill fight to stay in this great league, but sadly the sands of time are running out on this great west midlands club.
As always though, we live in ,hope.

Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 3
If Villa go down they could rinse that Championship and come back in a season. The young lads in that side are cheap on wages and clearly decent prospects. Theres no doubting Villa are the worst side i've seen West Ham play this season (in victory and defeat), but the ones who will leave are probably the waster on high wages. Weimann, Baker, Lowton etc some of those who look like they have some decent quality about them, they could rip some of the Championship defenders apart.
Lambert suffering from trying to change the philosophy and deal with the deadwood left over from the end of O'Neill and the rubbish of McLeish?

Zola was signed in the winter and he still won Player of the Year. If that's not an impact I don't know what is.
Re: 2012/13 Premier League discussion thread part 3
Chris.
If/when we go down, we wont come back so quickly.
Benteke, Bent, Guzan, will go, maybe Weimann to, Vlaar.
Bennett, Lowton, Baker, Clarke, Delph, not good enough.
The find of Benteke was quality.
I've always supported Lambert, but when on transfer deadline day we needed a centre back BADLY. He gets a french second division player and a guy who has been in the US for a while as our signings, thats just poor, sorry, nothing aginst Sylla and Dorkins. but they're not going help keep us up.
I've got to the seriously worried/pist off stage now.
Man City home next, then Reading away, QPR home.
The latter two we need 6 points from.
The thing is every club will be looking to see when they play Villa, cos there is more then likely a guarenteed 3 points.

Gotta have some faith West man come on now!
One thing about Villa is that you will always score goals imo. When you look at QPR, you don't know where there next goal is coming from, but with Villa I always fancy you lot to score. That is definately a positive in my books.

Why I love football.
Nigel Quelch: "Glad to see Mikel back, most underrated player in the team. We play much better with him playing."
Anmol Chibber: "I'm not sure I will ever understand what Jon Obi Mikel does and why he gets in the Chelski first team."

Moussa Sissoko scores for Newcastle. What a signing he appears to be!
Must admit as a Norwich fan I am supporting Chelsea today. If they beat Citeh, title is over, meaning when we play Utd next week they will more than likely rest players with the Madrid game coming up, giving us a chance.
That's what I'm clinging too

I don't know why he just came straight back in after the success David Luiz had in that position. Mikel is the most overrated player on the planet, in the sense he's still deemed Premier League worthy.
