Edge & Lita Poll

Simple one really - would Edge have been so successful in the WWE without Lita?

It's difficult to say, Edge always had the talent, and he was one of WWE's golden boys so he would have been given plenty of chances, but I just don't think he would have gotten over as strongly with another gimmick.

Prior the shenanigans with Lita he had a really boring run as a face after his return from injury, to the point where fans booed him in his feud with Randall Keith Orton. His initial heel turn was decent, and he had good feuds with Crispin Wah & Shawn Michaels but his psycho heel gimmick never really looked like taking him to the next level. Once news broke that he wrecked Matt Hardy's dream of one day having children though it propelled him into another stratosphere.

So I reckon he'd have been successful without the Rated R Superstar gimmick and the heat from the love triangle fiasco, but not as successful as he turned out to be.

Agree totally with Y2

I think he'd of made it anyway eventually but the heat from the Lita, Matt love triangle definately got him more over & took him to the next level

It's shown that with Morrison that Vince had little respect for someone that allowed his Mrs to put herself about. I imagine in Vince's head a guy who'd happily screw a mates Mrs is someone he wants as a main eventer.
