Just when you thought it was safe to go out
According to Planet Rugby the Super series could be expanded to include Japan,Canada,Usa and other Asian club sides
.Curiously The Pacific islands and Argentina are not mentioned,Super rugby when it started was a sensible tournament
serving as a basis for the Relevant test Sides.Indeed few Bolters made it direct from Currie Cup or NPC the introduction
of an Australian Barbarians side in the mix changed things somewhat.Usually at best 4 Nz,3 Sa,and 3 Oz sides are competing
every year.It makes rather a nonsense of the whole thing and with the loss of the Lions replaced by an Unknown quantity[at least
to us in the NH].
There are several ways at looking at this it makes perfect sense to include an Argentina side, also Tier 2 Test sides under a Club
disguise etc. That would see they got more funding exposure etc.
But the Super16 is already to unwieldly and player welfare being ignored in the cause of money, for this to happen only a few
options are open.More amalgamation of the 3 countries sides plus perhaps a draft system[say 3 teams each.Or more Barbarian style
Teams which obviates the idea, thirdly a two tier comp with promotion/relegation.Or finally get to the Stage where Test players only play odd match between Tests.
It has become a Frankestein `s Monster or an Elephant in the corner at some point someone is going to have to cry enough
the Money or the Players. The Alternative seems Test players going off shore for easy games and cash and just pop home to play the odd
Test Match.IF thay happems i`m out of here !!! no doubt to the delight of many here

Re: Just when you thought it was safe to go out
Pacific Islands will never be included as they cant fulfil the financial requirements of hosting home matches. The revenue from 20-30 or so visits from SA, OZ and NZ (let alone other sides) would simply not be viable or worth it.
Same reason there will never be an All Black test match in the islands.
