Federer vs Murray - The Official Verdict
We here at TME Headquarters have tasked several of our analysts with determining the result of the upcoming AO SF between our King, Roger Federer and the Single Slam Scot - Andy Murray. Every TME analyst has reached the same conclusion: Federer will beat Murray in 3 sets.
We see that many are naive enough to mention The Murman's .500+ H2H record against Federer, but these individuals fail to realize that their King is benevolent, and gifted Murray with several confidence-boosting wins. For you see, Federer saw something in Murray that didn't exist within the likes of other future-top 10ers, such as Rafael Nadal, Jiri Novak or Tommy Robredo....
Genuine talent.
Prior to his match with Murray at Cincinatti 2006, Federer held a video conference with the TME Board of Directors - Federer graciously excluded Mirka from said video conference for aesthetic purposes. In this meeting, it was decided that Murray should be given the W - in order to elevate Murray. This practice was conducted on several occasions and, indeed, did increase Murray's drawing power, as was illustrated by the fact that the Scot was voted the 2nd Most Popular Player in 2012 by ATPWorldTour.com - surpassing Djokovic and Nadal while Federer, of course, won by a landslide for a 10th straight year.
Federer only started to take Murray seriously at Cincinnati 2009. Murray compiled a 6-2 H2H up to that point. Perhaps tellingly, 4 of Murray's 'wins' came consecutively during the late 08-early 09 period when Federer was hampered by a back injury and motivational problems.
17 of their 19 meetings have taken place after Federer's 2003-07 prime. But even then, Federer has a 6-1 combined record against Murray at Grand Slams and The World Finals. The fact is, a post-peak Federer can beat a peak Murray when it is completely necessary - like we saw at SW19 and The O2 last year.

Please give Murray some credit (as well as Lendl in his corner) for making Murray a better player.

Is that because they're all the same person, by any chance?
Nicely worded though, very flowery...

Fantastic article.
It was very benevolent and altruistic of Federer to gift those wins to Murray.
LOL

This article made me strangely more relaxed.
Not quite as much as remembering that I've never seen Tsonga so lean and focussed. How much weight has tht guy dropped? 15lbs?

Re: Federer vs Murray - The Official Verdict
Dear oh dear...honestly, do people know what they write about when talking about so-called "talent" on here? I can tell you any player with just 1 measly ATP point is hugely talented at playing tennis. All top 100 players are by definition the best 100 people playing tennis out of 7 billion on the planet...how are they not genuinely talented to have made it to an absurdly small group of elite players?Spaghetti-Hans wrote: Federer saw something in Murray that didn't exist within the likes of other future-top 10ers, such as Rafael Nadal, Jiri Novak or Tommy Robredo....

Dear sweet Lydian....
It's good that you have gathered the courage and re-emerged to pit your wits against The Main Event Lads once more. But just like on the countless previous occasions, both on the new pastures of 606v2 and the battlegrounds of Ye Olde 606, you are fighting a losing cause.
The fact is that certain players, even within the Top 10, have far less talent for the sport of tennis than others. Some of these players are so talent-deficient, relative to other players, that we have no choice but to label them as 'talentless'. Rafa 'The Pauper' Nadal is one such player. Even Nadal's own coach and Uncle, Fisherman Toni, admitted to Vogue Magazine that Nadal possessed negligible talent compared to The Fortunate One - Roger Federer: 'If he (Nadal) had Federer's gifts I might have chosen a different style...'
But, alas, while Federer was fortunate enough to be blessed with never-before-seen talent, Rafa 'The Pauper' was short-changed at birth.

Re: Federer vs Murray - The Official Verdict
The 2 sets Federer won were the 2 most entertaining sets. Murray can only win the error fest sets.
