How long it will last?
The never ending final
How long do you think this AO final will last and more importantly for how long do you think you will be watching.

Re: The never ending final
Unfortunately, if Djoko plays anywhere near the level he did against Ferrer, it'll be over in 3 sets I suspect. Murray will need to serve like he did in the first 3 sets today even to keep it close.

Re: The never ending final
Depends on the balls that Djoko is getting back, and if indeed he plays like that again, Ferrer couldn't really punch him off the baseline, Murray can and will have to if he expects to win. Then again hes much more aggressive by default now anyway

My prediction isn't up there, if you could add it in ill vote, im going for 15 hours, 27 minutes and 4 seconds, they both crumple into a heap as the ball is lobbed up and Murray just gets up in time to poke over the net... rocky 2 style

Yes there is a chance of Djokovic closing it earlier in 3 or four, if Murray was worne out by today match. Still think a 3 setter won't last less than 4 h. A 4 setter should approach the 5 hours. Should they go to distance the record 6 h sould be at reach imo.

Re: The never ending final
I will see it start, probably through the first set.
That'll take me to the time I feel guilty not having got showered and changed, so ill do that, then possibly pop to work to do some prep for a meeting I have Monday. Ill be home to see the 2nd set finish.
My youngest daughter will need picking up from a match if its on, and that might mean a fair drive and if I watch her maybe I can be home to see the end of the 3rd set.
Hopefully we have an early lunch. It's rude, but I might catch some of the 4th set over that and see them go into a final set by the end of that.
Then it's time to sit down to see the final set, maybe around 4pm. I might flip between that and a footy match if there's one on, hopefully seeing the tennis finish before Mrs Bogbrush insists Dancing on Ice goes on, at around 6pm.
It can structure your entire day!

Re: The never ending final
It won't be a straight forward match for Novak. He looked great against Ferrer, but Ferrer is the perfect match up for him because he hits at the same pace all the time. It allows Novak to get a rhythm, and if you give him that he'll destroy you.
Murray has such variety that he doesn't allow Novak that rhythm. He can extract errors from Novak with his change of pace, his slice, his short balls... He deliberately doesn't give Novak a consistent pace to hit.
I think it will go 4 just over 4 hours, with Novak edging it.

4 sets in 4 hours is difficult for me. 4 sets > 5 hours is much more realistic.

It will be 1 hour per set so times that by the number of sets.

I find it hard to believe that Mrs Bogbrush did not choose to keep her maiden name. It must have been something really awful.

It's double-barrelled.Henman Bill wrote:I find it hard to believe that Mrs Bogbrush did not choose to keep her maiden name. It must have been something really awful.
Her maiden name is Brush and mine is Bog. We felt it an opportunity too good to miss.

If its a very hot day, I can't see too many extended rallies - otherwise both Djokovic and Murray will be on drips if the match goes 5-6 hours.
I think between 3-4 hrs.

Re: The never ending final
2h 20 for the first to set. if the game slows down a gear the record would be potentially at reach. Now I am off to play myself
