Re: Australia v West Indies Series
After Watson was out first ball and an agonisingly slow start with Tino Best bowling very fast and accurately, Australia got a move on.
Adam Voges has just got his maiden ODI hundred off 97 balls.
252/5 after 48 overs

Re: Australia v West Indies Series
Charles gets a half-century in a dead-rubber match against an Aussie side that's resting players...now we're stuck with him.
Re: Australia v West Indies Series
That last 6 will seal it for him.

Re: Australia v West Indies Series
Sitter dropped by the sub fielder, then Charles just manages to get a faint edge before looking like a plumb lbw... or did it hit pad, then bat to pad? Decision reversed by Paul Reiffel.

41 required off 24.
Pollard smashes one down the ground to long-on only to be caught by Finch off Faulkner for 45.

Clint McKay cleans up the tail. Australia win by 17 runs and clinch the Series 5-0.
That was Australia's 500th win in ODIs out of 811 matches.

It may be a T20 but the result will still be the same. WI will never beat Australia until they change their balance of their playing XI.

Really, being T20 World Champions means nothing out in the middle. Any way, the match is being played in Australia's own backyard so it gives them the edge before the match.

West Indies made 191. Some loose bowling and not the best fielding from Australia. It will be a hard ask I'd say to win this.

Finch already out. He's having a hopeless time with the bat of late.

A good bash at it but a bridge too far. West Indies win by 27 runs.
So well done to the Windies - the men's and women's teams both won against Australia today/tonight.

Re: Australia v West Indies Series
At least the Windies end on a winning run...it's not often that we beat Australia twice in a day!
Re: Australia v West Indies Series
You know there was actually 3 'Australian' teams playing at the same time yesterday with the Australia XI playing in India.
I was quite shocked to hear it was the Windies first win here in 16 years. Is that right? I'm sure they won a few ODIs in Australia during that period.

Re: Australia v West Indies Series
First time we've ever had some of our Test players playing at the same time as the T20 mob in different parts of the globe too.
Shows the amount of depth we have....

Re: Australia v West Indies Series
Entertaining T20 match, I watched some of it. Just about the perfect T20 pitch, pace and bounce so you can hit through the line, but a bit in it for the bowlers (the spinners got some turn, and the bowlers bounce and a bit of seam movement), and more importantly long boundaries.
Australia will be kicking themselves for the 2 run-outs, without that they'd have been in a strong position going into the last 5, but you need 7 wickets in hand to chase down 12+ per over and they only had 5.
The bowling was at times OK, but they seemed to lack coherent thought at the death, and duly got smashed everywhere. Picking 5 seamers who (Coulter-Nile occasionally aside) always bowl at the same pace was none too clever IMO.
For the West Indies it was important to see that they could win without Gayle and Samuels performing. Johnson Charles at times isn't just swinging at everything with his eyes shut (although at times he still does) but I am still unconvinced he will be successful in the long run; Pollard played nicely though, he seems to have really made a step upwards on this tour. Hopefully that will continue. Narine's spell with the ball was the ultimate deciding factor, but I would be concerned about the other 16 overs, which I think teams will fancy as things stand. Not sure why Deonarine was considered a better bowling option than Gayle, and not sure why Badree wasn't playing.

Re: Australia v West Indies Series
There were a few chances missed (both sides) - some difficult attempts; others where the ball seemed to land right in between 3 fielders. Still a deserved win for the Windies and nice for them to finish on a high note.
