Muhammad Ali
According to his brother Ali could be dead within days. Whilst I hope that this us not true, a part of me hates seeing him in an almost vegetative state. A total contrast to the man at his pomp. If he us going I wish him a peaceful journey and a massive thanks for the amazing ride his career gave every boxing fan.
Salaam alaikum Ali.

Yeah just read this, awful news, you have to respect someone like Ali that stood up against so many people and went after what he believed in so dilligently. Awful news.

I read about it today too. His brother saying that he can no longer talk or even really acknowledge him. This is such a sad story. I'm hoping the big man doesn't suffer too much more.
The world will be a poorer place without Ali but man did he leave some fantastic memories.

Re: Muhammad Ali
I still don't get why he was chosen to play a part in the olympics opening ceremony. Yes he is a sporting legend but he is not British and I am sure the olympics opening ceremony was a celebration of everything that is British.
Anyway lets hope he gets well soon. I'm not his biggest fan due to his racist actions not only against white people but also racism against black people (frazier). He had some very extremist views and joined a very racist far right religious fanatical group in the muslim brotherhood. However he is a sporting icon and a speedy recovery is something I hope he gets.

A joke or not that is very disrespectful to Ali. I understand that you are trying to say the current HWs are so bad that even someone with a chronic illness could beat them but you are using Ali as the example of someone with an illness who would win and you are using his situation and his illness as a tool to mock the current HWs. I don't think it is right that you use a dying man as the tool of your jokes.

It was a compliment to Ali designed as an insult to the current HWs. It is very distasteful of you and what you have basically said is that 'even Ali with his illness who can barely move on his own can beat the current HWs cos they all suck'.
Of course you never literally said that but that is indeed what you were insinuating with your original comment. Yes Ali was the best in his prime but please do not use his illness as a tool to highlight how the HW division has supposedly fallen into a shockingly bad state.

This thread should be locked because if I respond to this ignoramus I won't be as polite as I normally am.

What comments of mine will make it flare up?Everything I have said is a fact. The only argument against mine is the justification of those facts.

Re: Muhammad Ali
I read the article in the daily mail. I must say that when my eyes glanced over it my heart jumped. It would be a huge shock for me and no doubt a lot of people when Ali passes.
I have my own view but will not explain it as it might be taken the wrong way.
All I will say is this......
If it is better for him to die then be alive then so be it......God knows best.

Will lock this until we have some more news on Ali's situation or until we can be sure that it won't "flare up" (not sure why it has to, really, but there you go) then.

Maybe if you stop looking for arguments you won't find them?
Perfectly reasonable what he has asked, although he is being a little sensitive. It's an Internet forum, not like we are gate crashing the funeral.

Maybe merge this with the other thread?
Sounds like it's not true anyway. Just the ramblings of a family member who's not even seen him for 6 months.

Pardon me if I don't take the political opinions of someone who believes that we should launch a nuclear strike on a nuclear armed country in order to avert a nuclear war too seriously. What is reasonable for you I take with the amount of salt in the dead sea.

WHatever you say LJ. There is a big difference between sensitive and offensive. Thrown in the ignorance issue also.
