Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
First topic message reminder :
I agree Digs - what I was commenting on was not their lack of invention, but their lack of cohesion. They did not get the basics right, the least a back has to do is commit his opposite number, which becomes more important against the 'drift' defence, and then follow up and support. This was not happening yesterday, apart from Chris ashton on occasions.
I have not seen Goode play in his club matches, but on a number of occasions, he caught the ball deep, began to run, hesitated and then was caught without any support. I can't remember ever seeing Ben Foden caught like that. It is yet another sign of a lack of cohesion in the backs.
Of course, this probably is all due to the fact they are a relatively new squad and should come together the more they play together. But on the face of it, I think yesterday was a fair showing against a team that in my opinion is still there to be taken and will possibly only get one win in this series.

Maybe. But I can't see United selling him for that money. I think 35 could be the tipping point

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
It's all a game though. If they really aren't going to play him that much then its 250k a week for not much plus having to sell him next year, a year older with a years less contract.
I reckon 30 gets him and Chelsea will pay it. Id like to see him at another club as I like watching him play and its good for England that he plays, though equally I don't see Man Utd buying a better player for 30 million.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
How would he fit in with Demba Ba, Lukaku and Torres? Just behind them? But he could play that at Man Utd behind RVP. If Moyes had to say "I see Rooney supporting RVP and if RVP is not available, Rooney will play up front" that might have made it better.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
I think it would be more about how they would fit in with him- No disrespect to those three at all. But look , Chelsea have been half the fighting team without Drogba. With him there had true guts. Rooney should be able to hold that ball up(not quite in drogbas way) but he will be able to do that , I think if Rooney is going anywhere he is going to be the main man. In regards to Ba i think they will ship him anyway. Torress I wouldnt ship out but if anyone wants to have a pop at rooney for not trying(as ridiculas as that sounds to me) they should be saying that 10 times over about torres!

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
I'm not his biggest fan but Rooney would clearly be first choice at Chelsea. Demba Ba and Lukaku (to date) are not in the same league and Torres really is just an average striker these days.
Rumours this morning of a £60m bid from United for Bale. Now that's a proper transfer!

Bale and RVP sounds fairly mouth watering if you are a Man Utd fan. I cant see Bale going abroad or staying at Spurs, lets face it by and large British players just don't move abroad and he does seem like a fairly typical footballer in the brains dept, all be it a nice enough lad. Has a young family as well so another reason to stay in the Premier League.
They still need a central midfielder as well though, personally I don't think Fellani would work that well, Fabregas would be ideal if they could get him.

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
Completely agree with all of that Digs
Bale would be very much a replacement in the Giggs style and fits perfectly with the way United play
As you say Febragas would be perfect for them (even then i think they still need one more CM) but i don't think he'll go there. May be proved wrong, we'll see.
One thing's for sure, if they did get Bale and Fabregas and did end up swapping Rooney for Mata, they would be a hell of a side!!

Re: Another Drive4show 'Anything goes' thread
You think so Mysti? I'd say they are (or can be) very different types of player. Mata is an out and out 'in the hole' type attacking midfielder. I know Fabregas does that for Barca but at Arsenal he played quite a bit of a deeper role. Almost what Carrick does for United now but a bit more creative
I think those two with a defensive midfielder would fit fine

Is it not the parents responsibility to make sure the kids are not looking at dodgy things in the web? And i am pretty sure you can have filter settings set up anyway. Dont blame the internet if your kids are searching porn.

of course parents have to be responsible, but that doesn't mean they are the only ones who should be. that's like saying builders should be able to go out and build whatever they like without having any concern for local development, technical standards or good building practice. yes some of these statutory things can be a little tiresome, but we'd be a lot less safe without them.

Welcome to the UK intranet. Who thought dave would borrow policy from the commies in china?
Is porn really the stuff you dont want you kids accessing online?
I would be much more concerned if a had a kid that spent time on creationist forums and ended up thinking Adam walked with dinosaurs 6000 years ago.

Anyone got any suggestions who I should nominate for the next round of the tv cup? Looking for the best soap character- I dont do soaps so I'm stumped. Could do with some extra votes for our very own poster girl in the golf forum - ms. Reid - in the current poll too

Barra - Hilda Ogden or Jack Duckworth from Coronation Street, Benny from Crossroads, JR off of Dallas, Henry or Bouncer the dog from Neighbours. There have been some interesting cameos from non-soapers if you wanted to go the leftfield route.

Cant believe the story re the 4 year old boy starved and beaten to death by his "parents". Could barely read the details in the paper it made me feel so sick. I can get that one person might be so twisted as to do this kind of thing but it always staggers me when two people are involved. I mean what are the chances that someone as mental as his mother just happen to end up with someone as utterly psychotic and warped as the stepfather. Very sad.

Digs - this story is heartbreaking. Although the behaviour of the parents was horrific, I am equally shocked that school teachers and local care workers did not act when it must have been obvious that something was going on.

Yeah Ray I know what you mean. Generally I feel for the officials in this kind of scenario, often they are damned if they do or don't act. And lets face it by and large social workers and care workers are social workers and care workers because they care about people, they certainly don't do it for the money or the praise they get.
But you do wonder in a case like this just how it can have slipped through the net.

Watch warzone with Ray winstone.!!
I know bringing up Fiction in reagrds to Fact could be seen as trivilizing it. But in these cases I allways think there is one truely sick individual and another submissive type that is moulded/brainwashed and goes along with it or in many cases knows whats going on deep down but has to ignore it to get on with life!

Does anyone have a link to what length of course/scorecard the Womens British Open are playing to.
It would be interesting to see given some of the low scores coming in (admittedly it's an easy course)

Ha ha. I once spent nearly an hour surfing the internet trying to find out for definite about her sexuality. Read various interviews etc and I might be wrong but I'm sure I remember reading an interview where she was being coy about having a fella.
I have to confess I've always a fondness for Laura, used to see her at Wimbledon dog track quite regularly and was fascinated by her shape. Never seemed actually fat just a square body with quite/relatively slim legs. She always seems like a great laugh too.

Must be Freudian Hibbz because when I first read your post I saw it as "being coy about being a fella".
But I agree, she seems like a top lady and should she prefer the ladies good luck to her, I bet she does better than Super.
