First topic message reminder :

I agree Digs - what I was commenting on was not their lack of invention, but their lack of cohesion. They did not get the basics right, the least a back has to do is commit his opposite number, which becomes more important against the 'drift' defence, and then follow up and support. This was not happening yesterday, apart from Chris ashton on occasions.

I have not seen Goode play in his club matches, but on a number of occasions, he caught the ball deep, began to run, hesitated and then was caught without any support. I can't remember ever seeing Ben Foden caught like that. It is yet another sign of a lack of cohesion in the backs.

Of course, this probably is all due to the fact they are a relatively new squad and should come together the more they play together. But on the face of it, I think yesterday was a fair showing against a team that in my opinion is still there to be taken and will possibly only get one win in this series.

Me too. OK another subject...interest rates. Now I have three mortgages (well ones the wife's on her old flat) so I'm pretty happy they are staying low as my deals are fine though not brilliant. But I can understand why people who have a lot of savings are too happy, and it does seem we reward people who borrow rather than those who save ? Is that the right way to go ?

I don't doubt it.
However my Porsche Cheyenne needs topping up and my scratch golfer daughters need new bats so I can't be chucking my lolly round willy nilly. Also my mansion in sloane square needs double glazing and most of my property portfolio needs attention.

We have to stimulate the economy!

I am looking for my second property at the moment- Going to buy in kent somewhere!

And tbh who would want to sit on cash!! You need your money to do something.

I would worry if I had all my money just sitting in a savings account. I know the likelihood of losing your money is very slim. But the fact is banks can only guarantee 50k!

It's all good now.
My family had quite a few propertys during the 80's and lost the lot when interest rates rose to 15% and the market crashed. I'm sort of in the same boat now and am just trying to judge when to bail/cash out.

Property in London's hot spots is going mad right now. Its definitely picking up big time, Clapham/Brixton for instance is up 15-20% which is just crazy.
Bubbletastic again.

If I could own in Clapham I would..

But I could only by a studio for the price I can own a semi house in a decent village in Kent.

However I think the best place to buy would be Crystal palace.

It is very up and coming. The tube will be there soon. And if the Palace gets re built. The place will sky rocket!

My flats in Clapham North or Brixton depending on whether you are an estate agent. Yield is good as I can let it as a 3 bed as it has a good kitchen diner. My wifes is in Hither Green, an area which is picking up and actually has great links to town, wouldn't want to live their myself but its ripe for growth as its one of the few places you can get a 2 bed flat in London for under 250k.
To be honest I reckon I could get better rental yields in Sussex where I live if I shopped around for a bargain but I won't get the same capital growth...but I could do with the cash from selling one of them to set up a business down on the coast. All a bit of a quandary right now.

I quite like London, although I've no idea how people on a "normal" salary can afford to live anything but a student like lifestyle there.

Stick it in the business! Smile

Its more fun ,offers real return if you do it well. Clearly a much bigger risk though!

City/Canary wharf folk may have to move into hither green soon. And it is pretty close to the DLR. Not sure if brixton is going to keep growing as it has done in the past, but clearly worth a lot more than the Hither green flat

Well I suppose it depends if you want a chilled life with a low risk business with a small return or a high risk big return..

If you have good IT knowledge but you don't want to stay in that game- At least you have great knowledge which will save you a lot of money!

I'm just thinking of a few of the names you could have for each beer you brewed.

The Socialist Worker. 2.3% ABV
Red Ken
Graudian
9 Chins Appreciation Bitter.

You could rank them all on a Doak scale.

Brewing, I think Id drink the profits. All the businesses for sake tend to be restaurants and cafes but I think its long hours and hard work to turn a good profit.
I quite fancy opening a shop bit its getting the product right and think nowadays you need online sakes as well really.
Going to go a lot if business fairs in the next 6 months I think.

A good way of finding growth products is checking out the google searches for key words.. But then to make money wouldn't having a shop presence just cut into your margins, unless you need a showroom..

Get products made in a chinese workshop and sell them over here. Anything that is a big seller would work..

What do people shop for in retail over the internet. Pets(everyone is buying reptiles these days!!) - Maybe you could breed hamsters as you mentioned earlier Smile

There are quite a lot of companies with offices round your way.
BG, Centrica, Perenco, JX, BP, Tullow, Nexen, Amec, Premier, Afren etc. Worth looking on a few oil careers websites (Oilcareers.com)

Should be perfect for Anderson and Swann Mysti. Or maybe this will be Broads one innings per series where he rips through a side.
Be nice to see the last wicket put on another 20-30 runs first.

I think 260 will be tough to beat for the aussies in fairness(going by the way this track has fared recently). This game could go down to the wire as england haven't taken full advantage of batting first.

Just been to the beach for a picnic and watched some rowing racing , was pretty choppy out there.
One year old about to hopefully have a 2 hour nap and the four year old will watch Toy Story while I watch the cricket and athletics for a while.
In bed for 7.30..the kids not me...and an evening of golf and beer.
That's the plan anyway !
