That's how I'd go in a perfect world. Still not sure on Rafael over Arbeloa but he offers more attacking.

I agree with the team, although I would have Arbeloa over Rafael.

And on the attacking threat, I witnessed with my own eyes, in the flesh, Arbeloa on the left wing, bamboozling van der Wiel with a series of Ronaldo-esque stepovers, and whipping in a cross from which Benzema scored.

I should have said that Rafael doing it for a handful of games isn't enough to convince me he is a good defender yet. I have seen him have a handful of decent games before only to return to not having a clue about defensive positioning

Ramos is immense, I can't believe people wouldn't have him in their team.

Mine would be close to Zinedine's, except I would definately find a space for Ozil. Probably ahead of Rooney or Valencia. The guy has improved so much since he went to Madrid and if United focus too much on Ronaldo, then Ozil is going to kill you

Ramos is a beast!!
Ozil is................

My comment was slightly tongue in cheek, but you are right. VDW had a good world cup and has been living off it ever since. The guy cannot defend to save his life. Having said that, playing for Ajax, PSG and the Dutch team, he should be good enough to defend against Arbeloa trying tricks on him

I played a guy on FUT last night, I'm up to League 2 now, and he took the lead inside 3mins. He then spent 87mins defending, I beat him 5-1 taking it easy.

But credit to him for sticking with it and not rage quitting like everyone else does when they get 2-0 down clap

I'm starting to look at my team and thinking I should upgrade.

--------------------- Neuer
---- Hummels -- Badstuber -- Pique
Farfan --- Schweinsteiger - Xavi -- Iniesta
----------------- Muller
----------- Gomez ------- Huntelaar

Badstuber is only an 83, so I'm thinking of getting Ramos in there, then replacing Huntelaar with maybe Falcao or Higuain.

Isn't he only an 84? I've got an 84 Kroos converted to an ST on the bench, as well as an 84 Gotze, an 85 Villa and an 83 Khedira.

Good result for Utd, De Gea was good. Madrid seemed happy with a point towards the end, they never really seemed to go into top gear

Rafael didn't disgrace himself against tough opposition. Carrick, Jones and Welbeck were all great, De Gea was outstanding. Van Persie was quiet and I didn't appreciate Fergie's substitutions.

I don't understand the bumming De Gea is getting, what has he done at Madrid is what we all already know. De Gea is a great shot stopper with fantastic agility, he can get down to a shot very quickly or get to the other side to make a stop. Its his handling on lcorners being able to take the physical side of the game that he struggles on. Hhe flapped at a corner or two today. He'll pick this up with experience but at the moment he still is weak on certain points I feel he will go on to become the best keeper in the world.

De Gea's a great shot stopper, just prone to the odd clanger and doesn't particularly relish coming through a crowd to get a ball.

A good result for United, but at the same time, you'd be making a pretty safe assumption they won't be winning on away goals on the basis of this game. Still probably need to win at OT

I don't think 1 away goal was enough as Madrid will score at Old Trafford, but a great result and great performance to be fair.

I'm still not convinced by De Gea, that moment in the second half when he threw his feet towards the ball and it hit the post, what the frak was he thinking?!

Kept the ball out of the net. My motto as a GK is "it don't have to be pretty, but as long as the ball don't cross the line you've done your job"

I love the unorthodoxness of De Gea (Yes I realise unorthodoxness isnt a word)

Disagree. He proved last night that he's not cut ou for top-level football.

De Gea was fantastic 90% of the time last night, Jones was good, and yet again Rooney disappointed in a big game...he had one of his 'fat' games steam

This is bang on. I do wonder if you other United supporters can watch United subjectively. You need to take a leaf out of Viva's book. De Gea was superb at what we already knew he was good at. He is still flapping though and to be considered really top class he has to work on that, which no doubt he will.

Rafael was terrible, Varane should have been sent off, United's CM was too slow on the ball due to Carrick, although Jones was good. CB's were brilliant, forwards were generally good as well, except Rooney who once again goes missing in a big game.

It was a great game and United more than matched Real and 1-1 is a good result. But you've got to think Real will score at OT, and therefore United still have plenty to do

Rooney, much like Welbeck was there to do a job in a workhorse type manner and I think both did that well. Carrick looked very slow at times I thought, but Jones was impressive alongside him breaking up attacks. He's a versatile player as I still think his best position is CB.

You can see that Spanish GK's don't deal with crosses very well by the way Diego Lopez dealt with them all night. No man's land for the Uttd goal, and Ramos with some shocking marking of Welbeck, more interested in grabbing him than actually defending properly

Morning.

My thoughts on the match.

De Gea had a good match, did what he does best last night (shot stopping).
Jones player great IMO.
Ozil was a bleeding handful !! Caused us problems.
Ronnies header, what a leap that was! It was like time stood still when he was hanging in the air. I was annoyed well Evra didnt challenge, could of at least tried to put him off.
Varane should of been sent off.
Giggs, why on earth he didnt pop off a first time shot when that opportunity came up. Thought he did well in calmin us down a bit, keeping the ball. We were terrible at keeping possession last night.
Rafael "not cut ou for top-level football." well even Adrian Chiles doesnt say stuff that stupid and hes a ballsack West Brom fan!
RVP, though he was isolated a lot, unlucky hitting the post and didnt hit the rebound well at all, shame really. Forced a good save after though.
Rooney & Welbeck, was clear they were instructed to do a specific job & i though they did it well for the most part. Good headed goal from Welbeck, if you actually watch he nudges Ramos away to get that bit of space which allowed him to drop off & win the header.

Overall: small advantage to us I think. Away goal & coming back to Old Trafford. But you have to expect Madrid to score so the small advantage is that we will be at home.

Also, how has no one mentioned the dumb*** Referee !!! How can you give a corner then blow for full time??

Welbeck played really well I thought. Worth his spot in the United squad for versatility and work rate.

Ozil was Real's best player. Constant threat, excellent feet and great passing. He and Modric are a little reticent to pull the trigger and shoot when the opportunity is there is my only criticism.
