Over 20 years, that's 30,000 votes and not one single vote for Scholes.

Surely if he was that highly rated, he would have got at least 1 from 30,000.

And that is just the Balloon Door nominations. I don't know how many vote for WPotY

To add, i'd argue it would be tougher for Wilshere to get a vote now than it would have been for Scholes to get a vote then, due to the players in question. In 2001 there was some debate as to who the best players in the world were. Currently there's no debate, no-one is close to Ronaldo, Messi and Iniesta.

I might use the same logic as Viva coz I really liked Duncan Ferguson in his prime.

For van Persie to be better than Duncan Ferguson, he has to win the Balon D'or in two years because Ferguson is clearly more rated by managers than Rooney.

And it's people who like RVP that hold football back when you have someone as gifted as Ferguson who doesn't get selected for Scotland

Afro its blatant cheating, 100% bias against English players and then our English manager capatains are too jealous to vote for a fellow countryman. Ballon dor stinks of corruption and bribery. Id rather listen to bobby charltons view on scholes then these so called pros. Paul scholes is the greatest player ever and I mean that from the bottom of my heart.

Scholes is too old tp win pfa young award.

Plenty of votes for English players. Beckham, Rooney, Lampard and Gerrard all received loads of votes.

Even Nani has got votes when Scholes hasn't

No, that is my opinion of Duncan Ferguson, same as yours of Paul Scholes.

Can I also add that RVP is rubbish and worse than Ferguson unless he wins the B'D

Nonsense. Wilshere is the kingpin in the midfield of a team where technical football is paramount, to the extent that it is often considered their downfall that they overpass it. Going for Wilshere above Scholes is probably more in the direction of beautiful football than away from it and Scholes is more a reason why we still play some hoofball than Wilshere

Morning,

I see the Scholes vs Scholes+ debate started again. Couldnt be bothered reading all of it.
But one thing I will say about the Ballon Dor is it does stink, like viva said, this year our nation manager & captain didnt vote for an english player. A lot of top nationals votes can look "dodgy". Joachim Löw's for me were the best.
EG, Casillas voted for Real & national team mate Sergio Ramos ahead of Real team mate Ronaldo.
Del Bosque voted Casillas.
Portugal captain Bruno Alves didnt even have Messi in his votes.
Joachim Löw votes Ozil, Neuer then Xavi. Shocked

Anyway, how was yesterday? Was it settled that Andrea Scholes+ is the best in the World?

We only do it to wind Viva and you up, but you've got to admit the point on Scholes.

Viva always tells us how us fans don't recognise his talents, but those involved in football see it and recognise Scholes as the greatest English player of his generation.

To not receive a single vote in 20 years, out of 30,000 from people involved in football does make that look like that statement is wrong. And it's not an English things or United thing because Rooney and Beckham received plenty of votes, as have Lampard and Gerrard, and even Nani has received votes
