Brian Carney on PEDs in sport
Hi All,
As you all know the great Brian Carney played rugby league for Wigan, Newcastle Knights and GB. He also played union for Munster and Ireland. In this interesting interview he speaks candidly about PEDs in sport and gives some insight into the very sad story behind the death of his good friend Terry Newton (RIP).

In this interview he did say that he would be shocked if anyone took PEDs in Munster during his time there which is obviously good to hear.
Anyway some of you might enjoy this especially if you also like league.

You should its a decent interview and Carney is a top guy. I know because when I was 13 he saved me from some bullies in school. Sounds lame on my part but he really did.

wow good story Guns. He was a player I really admired in League, pity he didn't move to Union earlier. Awsesome finisher in his prime.

Here's Ben Franks talking about the problems players face trying to stay within the rules.

Really, i frickin love that. Carney was a bit of a cult hero among my old uni mates (which seems an age ago!) when he played for Britain in League. Always came across as a good guy in interviews.

Yep. He was in his final year of school (18yo) and I was in 1st year (12yo). It was a boarding school and I was quite homesick having rarely been away from home. We had an hour break in the evening after study and I was in the queue for the phone to ring my parents.
Every time I got to the top of the queue lads in the year ahead of me would take the phone off me, use my phone card and push me to the back of the queue for kicks. I was at the point of tears when Carney saw what was going on, asked me if I was ok, got my card back and then scattered the bullies. He waited around until I had finished my call.
Will never forget not feeling so lonely anymore and being surprised by his kindness. As cheesy as it sounds our school motto was "men for others". One person that embraced the meaning of that was Carney.
