Re: 2013 Super XV: Fixtures, Results & Table
exactly.
Often I see a player who passes being tackled, and by the time the receiver takes the ball he is ahead of the passer, some is called forward others not, so to enable all teams to have a fair decision making process, just ignore the momentum of the ball, as long as the reciever was behind the passer at the time the ball is thrown.

I thought that try from the Tahs went forward even though it went backwards off his hands. Was good to hear the TMO say "youcanawardthetry!"

But you see LB, that is where the inconsistency lies, some will award it and others won't.
Imagine how these teams feel in a change room after a match and they analyse refereeing decisions and realised the inconsistencies.

Pretty gutted I'd suspect.
Did you think the other one they didn't award up the other end in the 2nd half was an obstruction or tackling the player without the ball?

Mate there were so many tries in that match and it was such a poor match in relation to being competitive I watched with half an eye.
I remember something, I think the guy on the inside was tackled without the ball?
will have to see the incident again I am afraid.

Re: 2013 Super XV: Fixtures, Results & Table
I think Asbo posted the video up earlier on.
The Kings defence was so poor but I also think the Tahs just blitzed them with power, pace and guile. Some of those runs were incredible - the steps they put on and the offloads to supporting runners was of the highest quality.
Can the Kings turn things around against the Highlanders do you reckon?

Nah, their spirit has now been broken, it started when the Bulls nilled them, the Cheetahs should also have scored a bonus point try but somehow the y were held up three times over the try line and denied.
I reckon the kings are now cannon fodder for the rest of the season.

Re: 2013 Super XV: Fixtures, Results & Table
By the way, see if you can answer these question about the Conference system:
What is the percentage of home games won in super XV in the first two years? (2 points)
Who are the top ten most successful teams at home since the Super XV began? Provide the answer in order from most to least successful. (10 points)
Who are the top ten most successful teams outside their conferences? Provide again in best to worst. (10 points)
Lets see how knowledgeable you are.

I had to think about it but I sort of came to the same conclusion.
The only problem for us will be if the H's leave their game (last week's) at customs and the Kings grow huge quantities of confidence.

Re: 2013 Super XV: Fixtures, Results & Table
THe highlanders got a lot of confidence from their win against the Sharks even though they can count themselves lucky that the Sharks who should have won the game again were the masters of their own demise.
The Kings will be low on confidence and I just can't see them picking up the baton and running with it again.
But then , nothing is a certainty these days.

In the questions, do you mean from the start of Super Rugby (1996), or after the expansion to 15 teams?
Either way I'd be guessing, though I remember hearing last year that the Crusaders had the best away record of any team in Super rugby history

I'd guess Crusaders, Bull, Brumbies, Sharks, Stormers would be the top 5 for "Who are the top ten most successful teams at home since the Super XV began?". Not sure about 3,4,5....10 though.

You missed an obvious one LB the reds.
It's all irrelevant though. The crusaders are the best! Even though we didn't really have a home stadium for a while. Would be surprised if we were number one since 2011.

The last decade or more has been tough for them apart from their semi final appearance in 2007 or whenever it was? The first few years were a different story though, kia.

Re: 2013 Super XV: Fixtures, Results & Table
I have a hurricanes traing shirt from Dallas Seymour. I think all of NZ are closet Huuricanes fans because when they click they are a joy to watch but when they are bad they are car crash bad. Which us why nobody will own up to them.
I think nzers in general want all their franchises to do well really. I just love winding up because there were plenty of lean years with canty and in my student days otago was my adopted team because even though I always supported canty we were pretty awful for most of the 90s.
I'm sure you're happy with the improvement of the Aussie franchises and I'm looking forward to the rc because it looks much more even this year.
I'm quite happy to see Oz and Sa stronger because ultimately that makes nz stronger. The same now applies to arg. In a way that extends to the NH as well because then you strive to be stronger.
That's the beauty of this year. Not many cellar dwellers as in other years and you can throw a tissue over the top ten. That makes for a great closing end to this tourney.

Re: 2013 Super XV: Fixtures, Results & Table
Yeah, you know whenever Australia seems to be improving, then NZ react and raise the bar even higher. It's the natural way we approach the game.
SA are always a formidable prospect - I can't believe we escaped with those wins a few times (as Biltong will attest)... before getting hammered by them last year in the return RC match.
I really hope Argentina give England a good pummeling and that they do that little bit better this year in the RC. It's only a matter of time before they break through with a win.

It comes from striving for consistency. The 2009 Sa whitewash isn't that long ago but it can be seen as a major benefit towards 2011. There was disappointment in eng but at the same time a feeling of satisfaction that this would precipitate an improvement in 2013 because we respond well to failure partly because we despise failure but recognize its motivational benefits.

By the by, should I be watching the Chiefs v Force at 3:30 this morn?
How does one pronounce the town where the match is being played (I could make a major hash of it): Pukekohe

Could be an entertaining match but that's an early wake up call and wouldn't want to push you down the wrong path.

Linebreaker,
Massive shoulder reconstruction this morning. Poor bloke was wedged under a car after it was hit by a lorry a few days ago. He wasn't stable enough to work on the arm and shoulder until today. I was up studying the case late last night. Hoping to save the arm and restore most mobility. He is actually lucky to be alive. Just ten years ago they type of surgery we are planning wasn't possible. Its days like these when I am still amazed about what we are able to do.
