Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs Austin Trout May 4 - WBC/WBA unification fight
As the title says, El Canelo announced that fight is set on the Mayweather PPV.
Looking forward to this.
Trout was mighty impressive against Cotto, El Canelo should be a tougher fight though.
I've been reserved on El Canelo, but this is his opportunity to show his class against another top 154 fighter!

Canelo will walk through Trout. I'm going to bet a lot of money on a canelo win.

The only way Canelo loses is if he gets KOed no way Trout wins a decision, even if he wins all 12 rounds.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs Austin Trout May 4 - WBC/WBA unification fight
Hope this happens, imo the #1 and #2 lightmiddleweights (given floyd's a welterweight), a unification fight and a fight worthy of a main event we can see as an undercard fight
Canelo needs to be alot lighter on his feet if he is to win this but I thin that his speed and power could break trout down. Cotto managed to get his left hook to the body early without too much problem (Canelo's signature punch) but he didn't have the size, power or stamina to sustain such an attacker really hurt Trout
Don't think the judges will play too much either, you would have thought that they wouldn't have allowed trout to beat Cotto at MSG with the big Canelo fight on the horizon but looked what happened there

Delighted with this. Two top guys in the division going at it. This is the way it should be. If Canelo wins (and when Floyd wins) then I see those two putting on a mega fight late this year or early next.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs Austin Trout May 4 - WBC/WBA unification fight
I think it shows that Canelo is willing to fight the best and wants to prove himself
Last year he wanted to have one of Cotto/Williams/Kirkland/Ortiz on his record at least but for various reason (date of the fight, accidents, money, upsets) they fell through and he ended the year very disappointed
2013 could be his year and starting off as a 22 year old in a unification fight (against a true champion not a paper one like K9) on the undercard of a mayweather PPV fight is a great start and untill he proves himself lot of people will pick Trout to outbox him which makes it even more interesting.

It won't faze him. He'll just keep on trucking with other arguments. It'll be the same when Price beats Fury. He'll find some angle to gnaw like an old bone until people decide that it's actually no fun to prove Az wrong, even if you have overwhelming factual evidence, then you'll just give up and wait until the thread is locked.

Either,
• Trout will knockout chinny Alvarez as Alvarez almost got knocked out by a a fat LW
Or,
• Canelo is ducking Lara

just shows how quick the WBA and WBC change their minds about unification fights when big money (alvarez) is involved.

Fair play to all involved. We all wanted Cotto against Alvarez really but once that went out the window this is the sort of thing most fans want to see.

Broner will be on the undercard with Alvarez on there too, with Floyd headlining, 2M PPV tickets, not a chance in hell still though,.

I thought Canelo is chinny and will get blown away as he got rocked by a fat LW, I thought you would go for a knockout victory for Trout

Trout is a high volume but soft puncher. Distant fight. He'll pump jabsout which canelo will eat all day but lose by huge margins which will baffle all concerned.

Looks like a great match on paper. Nice contrast of styles and two undefeated men who have established themselves with multiple defences. I don't know about this one, but I fancy Alvarez to be pushed way further than he has been so far.

Re: Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez vs Austin Trout May 4 - WBC/WBA unification fight
Still very reserved about Alvarez, and not overly sure about Trout either to be honest. Is Cotto @ 154 the fighter he was? Probably not, but Trout did box extremely well against him.
For me, I'm leaning towards Trout on this one. Just think he's that bit slicker and better technically than Alvarez. Paddy Power have him as 2/1 as well, which I find very tempting to say the least. Would never call this a 1/3 and 2/1 kind of split for the fight.
Should be a cracking undercard fight though, a fight that's worthy of headlining all by itself to boot.
