"Baby, Can You Comb My Hype?"
I'm not saying he aint all that. The man has skills alright, but jesus, he is there to be hit, lacks feet movement, big time, is very slow to start and at times inactive with his output.
Fight like he did last weekend against a Lucas or a Bam Bam at 140, and his ass going to sleep.
Adrien Broner, very good, but by no means great.
Thoughts?

Agree to an extent, but put him in with a Lucas or a Bam Bam and he won't be standing there not punching. If he'd gone out trying his very best he couldve taken Gavin out in any round in my opinion, but he loves the limelight and wanted to extend his time in it.
He would be knocked out if he fought that way against far better fighters, but I don't think for a second he would be so lackadaisical against a genuine threat.

You cannot tell me getting smacked in the face a hundred times was so he could look good? His reactions are slow in the early rounds, IMO. A key to beating him.

He wants to be compared to Mayweather but if you look at the two in comparison of fights or age, then he is not a patch on him. Not a patch.

The shots he takes needlessly could stop him.

You not think when a guy can't hurt him he takes more risks than say a guy that can...
It's so easy he switches off??

Why is that a good thing? This is boxing, not five minutes in a footy match. He switches off for too long and he cold end up KO'd.

I think the bigger the challenge the more he'll take it serious...

Or get him KO'd.
He's good and loves to have babies, but the man need to take his fights serious.

Davide if you're telling me Broner didn't have a heck of a lot more gears to go up, you're a bigger idiot than originally thought.
He wasn't shipping punishment at all because Rees' shots quite literally bounced off, had no respect and wasn't too bothered by anything that hit him so didn't go out of his way to not get hit. He was simply on cruise control, watch against DeMarco, on the inside he was fluid against the number one Lightweight, and I think he has plenty more levels to go up and will only get better.

De marco is a skill free tough guy. he was completely outclassed by linares before the latter gassed. Was broner, just coasting against the poncemeister as well?
Sorry I don't buy this, 'carried him to make a fight of it' or 'could have taken him out at any time' stuff. Rees is a tough SOB, you don 't throw away a couple of rounds to make it interesting, nor do you take punches to show how hard you are.
What we saw was a short guy throwing punches from unusual angles against a guy who wants to take a look and figure him out. Which he did. I like Broner, as a fighter, he has talent to spare but he needs to tighten up a bit... And I'd be interested to see how much he has in the tank, in a fight that really stretches him... As he seems to fight in bursts. Not his fault that we have we haven't found out yet

i kind of agree with dmore, but will have to admit i didn't think broner was all that, and was proved wrong. however. LWW and WW divisions are different animals, and if he intends of unifying the division, then i think he will lose the '0' before his career is out. he spends to much time shaking his head, waving his hands about and stuff like that, and eventually he will get caught, WW especially has a lot of quality operators (bradley, mayweather, manny, brook, gurrero) who he would have to show something he hasn't so far to beat.

Re: "Baby, Can You Comb My Hype?"
Very nice title Emore. Broner cleans up the LW division if he sticks around to do so. He beats Burns on pts, IMO and he should hope that Ricky beats Vasquez because Broner v Burns is far more stylistically attractive than Broner v Vasquez. At 140 there is real risk for him, if he is ready for it. Garcia he oxes the ears off IMO, just has to avoid those swings power punches. Matthysse would cause him issues, as would Khan (for sheer size and speed) and a few others. 140 is a great division for him, but he is at 135 and should look to unify before hopping up. Also, he is still very young. I don't think he is unbeatable, but he is veryt ough to beat.

im sure goldenboy are aware of broners flaws. why else would he be fighting the likes of rees. but hes still developing his game, if he can continue to improve and avoid the heavy hitters until hes ready, whilst cashing in on his persona, i think we have a superstar in the making. flloyd was capable of losing to catillo once upon a time. didnt stop him going on to be great

He would be selling out 20,000 arenas if he were British, but boxing seems dead as dead in the US. They don't know how to market it amongst all the other popular sports they have. The atmosphere on the weekend seemed non-existent

Re: "Baby, Can You Comb My Hype?"
Yeah, it really was completely dead, I would imagine Broner would be massive in this country, like Naz, having such a cocky attitude hard hitting flashy style, over here Hearns would have him tghe major star of Sky and be selling out massive arenas. Sad, really.
