Stop! Rewind < The films that you can watch time and time again
So lets hear about those films that you never grow bored of.
You know the ones.
You are doing something much more important and flick through the channels and suddenly discover a fave film thats 20 minutes in. Suddenly you realise that you have stayed on the channel till the end.
They don't have to be great films but are like old friends. You never tire of them and will watch them till the credits even though you have seen the a million times already.
I have about 5 films that I would lump into this category:
A Knights Tale - a family film starring Heath Ledger in the lead role of a knights sire who poses as his recently deceased master to become a jouster. Cracking yarn
The Princess Bride - every scene and cameo in this family movie has the power to capture your attention. Amazing dialogue that is just so quotable. Inconceivable that someone wouldnt love this film.
Galaxy Quest - yet another family film with a brilliant cast. A bit of a urine take on Star Trek but done in a loving way. The whole cast is fantastic in this.
ET - still the only film that makes me well up when I watch it (and so much better than Napolean Dynamite). Spielbergs finest.
Moulin Rouge - a real marmite film but still mesmerising to me. The visuals are just stunning and the songs aint bad too!
A few others I could most probably add too (Jaws and Megamind to name two)

Re: Stop! Rewind < The films that you can watch time and time again
Not sure if it's quite on topic but a film for me that I have to watch if I'm flicking through the channels and find it's already started is Jurassic Park - I would never watch it from the start, don't own it and don't rank it as a favourite of mine but can't stop watching once it's started. It's a bit like a hug but with dinosaurs involved.

The Emerald forest is a film that moves me everytime I see it..As a Father with two Sons the thought of having a Son kidnapped, spending your life trying to find him (which you would) and then when you do.. realising that he's been raised in a totally different culture and he no longer has any real bond with you and despite all your paternal feelings you have to let him go because he belongs in a different place...
It's deeply moving........plus it brings a good environmental message...

Friends of Truss beware if he wants to go on holiday with you and your daughter!
Megamind is the most recent film that does it for me. I can literally be walking past a TV and if its on, stop, stare and then by the time I have realised, the credits are rolling!

Die Hard 2
The Hunt for Red October
Not my all-time fave films, but those are the ones I end up watching when I come across them whilst channel-hopping.

This may have come out a few years before I was born but I still find it hilarious, a yout?' Haha
2. Stepbrothers
Yes it is immature but I like it
3. Dodgeball
See above. I remember this film because it was the first time my parents allowed me to go to the cinema myself. Me and my friends went 3 times.

Re: Stop! Rewind < The films that you can watch time and time again
Good question - for me there's a difference between favourite films and those that yI can happily watch any number of times, mainly because the latter tend to be a bit more 'brain-off' entertainment movies:
Airplane
Life of Brian (both still make me laugh even though I know every gag)
Total Recall
The Running Man
Terminator 2 (not so much the original though)
Star Wars / Empire / Jedi
Under Seige
Robin Hood: Prince of Thieves (mainly for Rickman's merciless hamming)

Stateside we have Turner Classic Movies, a cable channel dedicated to running old movies great and otherwise. I love it but seeing Casablanca or The Maltese Falcon twice a month for five years kinda takes the patina off the word "classic."

Was that his mate? I don't think he was killed, but nearly. It was on telly the other day, and the acting of the of the young kids, when Frank was reminiscing was terrible, but who cares
