Showing I watched too much football in the 1960s and '70s, I thought Holt had every right to go for the ball and the resulting yellow card was very harsh!
Agree with others that Norwich definitely should have had a pen when Rose handled.

Brilliant brilliant point considering the circumstances.
Chris Foy and his officials need to have a long hard look at themselves. Pathetic. I've never seen a more inept display of refereeing

Decent point for Nodge all things considered. Sunderland are a poor side and could get sucked in.

If they hadn't got that seriously dodgy penalty, what other real chances did they have? Devoid of anything. I mean arguably we should have won that with 10 men!

The red card, yeah, I thought it was one in real time, looked like it, fair enough.
The penalty. Graham is 2 yards behind Bassong, so is offside (he's interfering) and then, well the lino, doesn't give a pen (rightfully), the crowd make some noise, he raises his flag. Meh.
The one I'm most annoyed about is the clear penalty we should have had. It's not even debatable, he's clearly inside the box, and it's a handball. Abysmal.
I'd argue we were the better team even with 10 men. Sunderland really were dire, worst team we've played this season. Looking at there run in, they could be in serious trouble

Good gutsy performance from Norwich. Deserved more than a point.
Sunderland looking very ordinary and must be relieved they already have 30 plus points in the bank. A goal for Graham seems a long way off.
Poor work from the officials as emphasised understandably by Olly and others.

A.Johnson £10m, Sessegnon £6.7m, Wickham £12m, Fletcher £12m, Graham £5m. £45m of attacking players. Awful. #SAFC
Think that pretty much sums Sunderland up at the moment. Fletcher and Graham just do not work together at all. Just look to be far too similar players to me

It's a bit fitting that Frank gets his 200 against West Ham. I wouldn't bet against him tying the record today either. Any rumours on his next move?

A mythos arose around him because he played so little for City and wasn't selected enough by England that people started to think he was much better than he actually was. The same thing happened to Joe Cole around 2010.

Perhaps controversial but I believe this is a case of people judging a tackle based on the resulting damage it has done.
McManaman goes to kick the ball and clear everything out imo, the fullback gets a toe to it and unluckily gets hurt - normally he just would have got a kick on the shin pad.
I'll have to watch it a few more times though.

Oh that's a horrific challenge. It doesn't matter a jot what the circumstances are, that's a red card and a 5 game ban. At least. http://footballfunnys.lockerdome.com/articles/106764256

It was above knee height and we went absolutely flying in. Terrible challenge.

But when he did play for City he looked very good on occasions.
Joe Cole has always been overrated.

McManaman is clearly trying to kick the ball, it's a foul and a yellow - possibly a red as he's gone in very hard, but it is really bad luck he has caught the guy so badly and injured him.
I don't think there is any need to victimise a young player and really people are being very reactionary because the defender has been injured.

Perch has just done the same thing albeit with less force and no bad luck.

The contact is brutal and it looks worse in slow motion but you can cleary see he is trying to kick the ball and caught him by accident (IMO), he couldn't have complained if he walked as he went in very hard and missed the ball but I just hope he doesn't get victimised the way others have when theyve accidentally injured people.

Stop talking rubbish Ent. Always one.
Perch pulled out, wasn't above knee height and wasn't flying in with both feet off the ground. Other than that they are pretty much the same I agree.

Think you need to calm down and watch the tackle.
Mcmanaman has gone to kick the ball, missed and caught him on the follow through by accident.
If not for bad luck and the fullback had been able to play on there would be barely any chat about it.

Nothing like it though is it, I mean Keane goes high and stamps down on Haaland on purpose. McManaman goes to kick the ball, misses and hits him on the follow through.

We have all watched the tackle. Given you are the one saying it isn't that bad, or was an accident, and we all disagree would suggest you are a blithering idiot, or are just disagreeing for the sake of it.

I don't think so, hes going to blast the ball with his instep imo. Quite unlucky on all counts as the fullback seems badly injured and this guys going to get victimised.
Carvers behaviour was disgraceful imo.

Yeah he misses the ball. However he goes in with extreme force which makes it dangerous. Fortunately Haidara doesn't seem too badly hurt, those often end up in broken bones

I'm not defending it, he went in very hard and missed the ball - couldn't have complained if he'd got a red.
I just think people are judging it based on what has happened to the defender, rather than the incident itself and I wouldn't like to see a young player victimised in the way others have been in the past when they have unluckily caused bad injuries.
