Re: Malignaggi V Broner in June
He's a fool Broner but he doesn't irritate me in the way say Floyd Mayweather does. From the little I've seen of Broner, at least he seems to keep his cool with people, and isn't prone to the histrionics of Floyd.
But to slip past two of the best light welterweights for quite some time just doesn't quite feel right to me and I'm sure to many others.
If the goal is to get Mayweather, then this looks like taking the easier route.
Could it suggest, though I'm not saying it does, that Broner , deep inside, isn't quite as confident as he likes to appear in public?
It's a big fight with Floyd sure, but if Broner brought wins over Mr Rios and Mr Matthysse to the table, it would be a mega. It would have a genuine buzz about it. You know you'd be looking at a serious fighter. And so would Floyd.
A fight with Paulie? Hardly sets the pulse racing does it, and little more than a workout really for Broner, without being disrespectful to Paulie, who's on the decline.

Paulie actually won th first couple rounds of that fight but was unusually still on his feet for that Fight, tis is also a weight up.. Part of being world class is consistency, if a fighter is not consistent it does not mean they not not possess the ability..TRUSSMAN66 wrote:Paulie took a one sided battering off Khan..........How the heck does he compete with Broner???
Also if we are to take other fights and compare then does the fact that Paulie gave Cotto a tough fight mean that khan is better than Cotto?

Magee had Hatton down in the 1st....
Let's chuck him in with Broner............
Is Broner better than Hatton and Khan..........Is he bigger than Hatton and khan ??
Can Paulie punch 32 (7) guess not....

I think Malignaggi is talented but never had enough to really challenge to top guys. Cotto came way to early for him even tho he put up a good fight.
Broner's power is the key to this fight but Paulie will get on his bike for most of the fight and will get stunned when he steps forward.

I think its a decent matchup. For a LW to jump to divisions and fight the champ is good going. Can't see what the criticism is. Perhaps he should have fought Maythysse or a few more LWs. It certainly a better fight that against Burns.

I agree with whoever said Abril would be a more interesting fight. Maybe not the most entertaining as at the moment Broner fights are merely showcases of talent and Abril is hard to look good against.
Was Paulie's last fight against Cano? I didn't have a problem with him winning, but Cano eventually started drilling the body at will and had Paulie in desperate places towards the end with obvious welts on his left flank. To move up in weight, it should be for an enticing fight. He can wreck people without leaving a weight class in which he has unfinished business.

malignaggi has no place at welterweight. thats why his last fight was against a lightweight, and now hes looking at another.
