Last player we signed from Munster directly was EIGHT years ago.
(Seeing as we seem to be turning this into a mickey measuring thread)
Munster players won't sign direct anymore - they look at how the careers of trev hogan & John Fogarty ended up.
As an aside - someone was saying on Munsterfans (I think) is that the reason Niall Ronan left Leinster was because Leinster wanted to turn him into a bosh type centre. Anyone else here that?

Marshall is there because of his familiarity with Jackson.
Otherwise it would have been Boss or Tomas O'Leary (who has been out for the season).
Funny that Marshall was picked ahead of TOL and Boss to go to NZ last year when Jackson wasnt there

Trouble was Marshall had more game time last year than any other Irish qualified 9.
Considering there are more games in the Rabo than the HC that will tend to happen plus Murphys injury has meant Marmion has needed to play more games

Possibly one of your sh1test comebacks ever. It was Hogan & Keogh anyway, Foggy came from Connacht in 08 (And is still in the Leinster set up)
No. He probably just didn't fancy being 6th choice centre if it's true. If he was still here now he would be about 9th choice in the back row.Sin é wrote:

Concise.
When did youse sign Boss? I thought I'd forever think of him as an Ulsterman, but I'm a bit indifferent now.

Thats because Leinster know that they will be turned down ..... they got the message when D Ryan decided to stay getting his game for Shannon rather than move to Leinster.

I'd say if some woman won't go out with you, you think it's because she's a lesbian.

Foggy took a few bangs to the head. We've managed to repatriate the others.

And he thought it would be easier getting into a backrow with Quinlan, Leamy, Wally & Foley around?

That's a lot better standard of comeback in fairness. Hogan's still around though. Met a Dublin Burd and decided he liked it here.Sin é wrote:Jenifer McLadyboy wrote:

Wasn't there shots of John Fogarty in the crowd at the Heineken Cup final (can't remeber if it was 2011 or 2012) with his Leisnter jersey pulled over his head in a Fabritzo Ravenelli style celebration looking happier than a dog with a barrell of mickies.
Didn't he also win a League and a HC with us?

Think he missed the league. Joined the September after our last league win. 6 years ago. Bit of a disgrace really. Losing 3 finals in a row.
Don't mind the Munster one in fairness they more than deserved it on the day and over the season. Those other feckers though.....

I think Trev was only finishing off his education (journalism). I think he is back in Nenagh - he is the head coach of Nenagh Ormond.
Ronan arrived in the 07/08 season - just in time to win a Heineken Cup (that he didn't feature in)!

So you lads haven't won the HC since 08 but have 2 League titles. We haven't won the League since 08............
But have a barrel of mickies?

It is possible to like Leinster AND Munster. Difficult sometimes but possible. I may be at the stoop cheering you lads on. Jaysus knows you'll need me.Sin é wrote:Mickado wrote:Wasn't there shots of John Fogarty in the crowd at the Heineken Cup final (can't remeber if it was 2011 or 2012) with his Leisnter jersey pulled over his head in a Fabritzo Ravenelli style celebration looking happier than a dog with a barrell of mickies.

Too easy. If we had your group we would have won it by now.

Hey Jenny - Where did you get that quote from?
You know something - the journey to winning a Heineken Cup is as good as winning (if not better).
Its fantastic supporting Munster at the moment - just no expectations and its just great to see this new young team growing up together.

I like Leinster - some of my favourite players play for Leinster (D'Arcy & Luke Fitz). Some of the fans are fairly obnoxious though, but most are ok - I came across a few Leinster fans at the '08 final and boy were they 'supporting' Munster through gritted teeth.

Exactly. I came across large numbers of their counterparts at the 09 final.Sin é wrote:

In my experience (with Leinster fans) they will put it all down to Munster fans being obnoxious. How they gave it out for years and couldn't take it when the shoe was on the other foot. And are still at it today etc etc.
"We wouldn't hate them but for the fact that they hate us"
In my book they are over-sensitive gobshytes for taking it too seriously in the first place.
If you look to be offended, someone will always oblige.
Most fans of both teams are decent rugby people, But there are some serious exceptions to that too.
I have several Leinster fan mates living and working in Cork and Limerick, my perception would be that they get a way worse time than Munster fans living up here. But that is partly due to the fact that people don't give a sh1t in bigger cities, and the reverse that people in smaller places are more likely to have a chip on their shoulders about their bigger city counterparts.
Same in New Zealand. Have you heard of Jaffas? (Just another focker from Auckland) People in regional towns have a chip on their shoulder about them. They don't really give a fock.
Same here. Although at least the city at the south of the Island actually IS the "real capital" over there.

Re: Ferris off to Japan!
At the 08 final I was surrounded by quite a few Leinster supporters....they were making more noise than some of the fairweather bandwagon supporters from Munster....
Anyhow cork is the capital of cork...(the independent PRC)...those who say its the real capital sell themselves short - that is all.
