Your top ten Brits ever
First topic message reminder :
As it is a Friday and a little bit quiet on here thought I’d revisit an oft repeated topic and ask for everyone’s top ten British fighters. I know the subject has been done countless times in the past but we have a good number of new members since last we visited the subject so why not go through it again. I’ll get the ball rolling with my nominees.
1 Jimmy Wilde
2 Ted Kid Lewis
3 Lennox Lewis
4 Joe Calzaghe
5 Freddie Welsh
6 Jim Driscoll
7 Owen Moran
8 Ken Buchanan
9 Jack Kid Berg
10 Naseem Hamed
To avoid turning this into a debate about nationalism and whether being born in a stable constitutes being equine I have excluded both Fitzsimmons and McLarnin from this debate.

Re: Your top ten Brits ever
I'd even consider Sutherland, Finnegan and Woods before Ashley as well as the far better pair of Froch and Calzaghe.
1. Wilde
2. Kid Lewis
3. L. Lewis
4. Welsh
5. Buchanan
6. Driscoll
7. Calzaghe
8. Berg
9. Moran
10. Hamed
Froch has a chance of breaking into the top ten but that's all dependant on his fight with Kessler as well as needing another win or two.

Wouldn't be in my top 10 but surprised to see no one pick McGuigan

Tempted to put Conteh super but Crawford just edges it imo. His wins against Domingez and Thompson stand out for me. Lost to Nunn and Andreas but put up a good fight. Fought better opponents the Conteh like Virgil Hill and Nelson

I think Saad Muhammad is the best boxer either fought and by a long long way, Conteh capitulated in the second fight but put up a bloody good effort in the first, better than Crawfords against Nunn.
Aside from who they lost to Finnegan, Ahumada, Lopez and Hutchins is easily the better set of wins, not really a contest between a world class fighter and a steady domestic level fighter but each to their own.

I'm normally a harsh critic of Haye but i feel he deserves a top 20 spot at least.
