HBO will no longer show Goldenboy cards
Terrible news for the sport. TR and Goldenboy on seperate networks now, which means we will never see them pit their stables against each other. Also, HBO will be showing less boxing, I would imagine, or certainly less good boxing as Oscar has a lot of talent.

This is just bad all round.

Floyd leaving HBO after all the butt licking they gave him must have left a bitter taste.

Looks like showtime are very much on the up, and while they can't match HBO's viewers they're shows have been well received and the numbers are on the up
I never thought that TopRank would ever work with GB so don't really mind that tey are both on separate networks
The one huge advantage of Showtime is its close ties to CBS which is like BBC in the states. They showed a card in December with Leo Santa Cruz (still fairy unknown) agaisnt a journeyman and drew 1.6million viewers and they are said to be interested in higher profile bouts

Showtime also have Al Bernstein which is a massive plus, the best boxing commentator out there, passionate and impartial at all times.

This is terrible news. HBO and Showtime divided; GBP and TP divided. Neither stable throwing their fighters into the ring against each other; neither network encouraging it to happen. Tragic for the sport, divisive.

Re: HBO will no longer show Goldenboy cards
It's a blow for the sport, and it's a sad indictment of the current state of boxing that so many have an 'oh well, no big deal' attitude towards it.
It's basically a declaration that most of the fights the boxing fans want to see will never happen, when you strip away all the handbags at ten paces bravado.
If Trinidad-De la Hoya, Chavez-Whitaker, Lewis-Holyfield etc (all fights which pitted rival promoters and rival TV networks against each other) can be made in the nineties, then there's no reason why we can't at least expect fights of a similar magnitude today.
It's all getting a bit sad across the pond.
