Golovkin vs Ishida: 30th March
It hasn't had much attention but GGG is back at the end of the month against Ishida.
Ishida is known for blasting out james Kirkland in a round a couple of years back and lost his last 2 fights.
Ishida is durable and likes a scrap albeit lacks power (regardless of Kirkland result) so should make for decent keep busy fight for GGG.
Ishida has never been stopped so i'm sure he'll want to make a point against him.
GGG by late stoppage or UD for me.

Re: Golovkin vs Ishida: 30th March
Yea it's probably nothing more than a stay busy fight that should keep GGG busy and to help raise his profile
Ishida is very solid and he has only had 3 losses since 2005, one which he was unlucky not to win against Alvarez going by reports, and 2 of those were to Paul Williams and Pirog. He may not have power but he has a great chin and is awkward, Pirog is a big middleweight and he never really hurt him deposited landing lots of good shots
Golovkin should win easily enough which won't really help his CV too much but a stoppage win would still be a very good achievement
Golovkin KO rounds 8-10, I think he has a HBO date lined up in the near future so if he keeps fighting this much than it'll help his profile so he gets the bigger fights as atm he just doesn't bring enough money for the better fighters to take the risk and fight him

It'll be a good measuring stick for a future Pirog fight. Ishida to be stopped on his feet late on...

Ishida is a decent boxer, but Golovkin will walk through him - mid round stoppage.

Golovikin is a belter holder now. He should be fighting credible opponents, not skinny powder punches who have done nothing except fight an over rated puncher at the right time.
Hes done nothing since.
Hes done nothing since.

A terrible match up really, the excuse that it's a keep busy fight can't be used because he's been a champion for 2 and a half years now and has fought literally nobody of any note, about time he stepped it up a little bit.

Difficult for him to get a big fight, Martinez seems to want to feed on brits to capitalize of Falklands fever, Chavez is banned, Who else is there for him to fight that isnt unavailable?
Re: Golovkin vs Ishida: 30th March
Why does he not try getting fights with the brits or someone who is actually a middleweight, again people like Golovkin and are letting that cloud their judgement.

I think GGG is truly unfortunate in that he can't get the big fights he wants.
He's v. high risk, little reward even though highly rated.

Mismatch. GGG will paste him over the course of 7/8 rounds

Re: Golovkin vs Ishida: 30th March
That's the point in these fights, he's trying to build up interest and trying to build up his profile
Martinez and Dibella have completely ruled out a fight agaisnt GGG as he doesn't bring anything to the table, bit ironic really as his lack of pulling power is what JCC jr used to avoid Martinez much to Sergio's annoyance and that he has fought no-names like Dzinzuruk, Macklin, Barker and Murray in the past.
Chavez won't touch him either, they sparred and reports say Golovkin took him apart. Quillin might but when he was asked he said they need to talk to him team, not someone who looks like they want the fight. Geale was suppose to fight him but fought Mundine instead and hasn't made noises about a potential fight with GGG
There are reports that Macklin is getting ready to fight him but not in June as he doesn't want to be on the back inactivity against someone like Golovkin
Pirog fell through once and Pirog doesn't look like he's going to step it up any time soon
Barker is coming back from a long stint out and Hearn said he doesn't want Darren to fight Golovkin
Soliman is 39 and said its Geale, Martinez or nothing atm and he has only just fought a used up Sturm
Can't see how you can critisise Golovkin when its the others who don't want the fights

I am not criticizing GGG. He is one of my fav fighters and I know why he can't get the fights he deserves. But it IS a mismatch and he will paste him over 7/8 rounds. That's all there is to say about it really.

Wasn't aimed at you, it was aimed at Ghosty as he said he should step up which is like saying that he is intentionally fighting at this level of opposition
He was bypassed by Sturm for 2 years and is being avoided by everyone else at this moment in time

Then I apologise. Sorry mate. GGG is avoided, plain and simple.

Re: Golovkin vs Ishida: 30th March
no proof hes being avoided. not every decent MW is a coward. im sure some of them have bags of confidence and rightly or wrongly assume they would do a number on golovkin. there are better fights out there than Ishida, but i get the feeling he would rather sell himself doing a destruction on a poor fighter, than step up a level and get outboxed. hes earning a good living with what hes doing and i think hes happy to do it for now. he will step it up when hes got enough money in the bank to risk losing his reputation.
do you think price fought audley and skelton to learn anything, to entice bigger fighters, or simply because it was easy money that he will be grateful for in the long run?
